  • She's pretty institutionalised.

As is anyone in high levels of a sport. You have to have been doing it since you were tiny, so no one ever has time to go away, reflect and "choose" this path. As if they did, they would be old and it would be too late.

Look at the all the twenty somethings who are getting into track riding through having ridden fixed/ss on the street. People like on this forum having a go at herne hill and maybe even indoors at newport/manchester. No matter how passionate they are about their new hobby, its never going to lead anywhere is it. They are basically the same age as a "real" athlete retires.

If you look at any sport like; Football, Boxing, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, sprint running etc..

If you have not been "in the system" with your life totally fixated around that one activity then you have no chance of being competitive. And with your life so fixated on this one solitary activity, it hardly leaves time for a social life and developing emotional skills.

I personally sensed a hint of aspergers about vicky. One of the traits of this is the ability to obsess over particularly activities, often excelling in them whilst lagging in emotional maturity. I think a lot of athletes in solo disciplines are like this.

  • ^ Yup. Definately on the spectrum, and I speak as a man with no medical qualifications or experience in the area.

  • Ha!

The D in DFP is for Doctor.

  • Doctor Fake Psychologist?

  • As if there weren't enough reasons to avoid Saturday night tv:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19541728

  • And there you go. It all makes sense. Good luck to her - although Saturday night TV is pretty far from my cup o cha.

  • Claira has got me hooked on Strictly. So this is awesome news for me.

  • Every cloud Ben. Every cloud.

  • Our Vic will be doing a book signing up Canary Wharf on Tuesday 18th September.

  • Vicky -win the dancing please, you deserve something as well as banging out track efforts til your guts come out ya mouth.
(just avoid all the telly food and drink whatever ya do)

  • We should have a Pendleton has very high expectations of herself and has a big cry despite it being light entertainment sweepstake.

  • She's so damn pretty.

    Can't picture her in full-on dancing attire/hair/orange make-up though.

Hopefully she'll be able to steer clear of nude coloured tights.

  • i hope everyone everywhere avoids nude coloured tights all the time

  • I was made to wear them at school.

    Also grey gym knickers.

    Whack.

  • I dont buy womens mags so i wouldnt know. They are all a pile of lying crap.

I want womens magazines shut down.

  • Hopefully she'll be able to steer clear of nude coloured tights.

And also "American tan" tights - we had to wear them for tap dancing. They're basically shiny orange. Grim.

  • she's on the BBC treadmill eh? That's it, expect to see her on everything/anything for all eternity

  • Our Vic will be doing a book signing up Canary Wharf on Tuesday 18th September.
