  • my grips moved a bit, not too much to be a worry but i wanted them rock solid, did as my messenger mate suggested and went the hairspry route, although he did advise cheap shit hairspry, asked around at work, got some then they were loose, went to a freinds took them off wiped the bars, used her hairspray, even looser!

  • You're using Ourys aren't you?

  • nah blanks... i saw a thread on another forum about ourys...

  • Go to Boots, get hold of some of their strong hold hairspray, 49p for a little pink can, clean your grips and bars, give em a good cote with the spray, slide into place, and leave for a good few hours.

Did this on my Champs and they've not moved an inch in 5 months, and I'm always cranking on my bars climbing hills.

    Shud work for ya.

  • sweet, will try it, thanks...

  • p.s. probably best not to soak the bars/grips. just a good cote and enough to slide the grips into place.

  • very good advise Duncan, I think the same

  • I am having similar problems with a pair of Ourys - hairspray doesn't help keep them fixed. I am using a handlebar with a 25.4mm diameter, anyone know if this is too narrow for these grips?

  • hubjub sell this

80ml of finest Maruni rubber cement in a little tin. Ideal for rubber

    and just £3

    problem solve, next

  • are these cement basically for applying on the bar to help slide the grip in easily and hardened once set?

  • i had the same problem so earlier today i just used pound shop super glue. i had tried hair spray but that didn't work, but the glue seems great.

  • i had the loose/slipping oury grips thing a while back, turned out i was using too much hairspray so it never really dried out... i've since found that using a tiny bit of water or hairspray to initially get grips on then kinda twist/push works. the drier they are the better they'll grip to the bar, but obviously a little trickier to get on..

usually the best time to apply hairpsray is in the evening and then let it dry overnight.

work so much better, regardless of the amount of hairspray you spray on.

  • tried that too ed, but mine were slipping for days! until i wiped out some excess spray.. probably just me! only was a problem with oury's mind, champs and similar have worked fine with spray like you say

  • probably the thickness really, the thicker the grip, the easiest it is to make it slip by applying a shitload of pressure.

  • I can get Oury's on with just a bit of water. Just get the end of the bar wet and that will be enough to push the grip on with. Then put on radiator to speed up drying.
Too much water or too much hairspray just never seems to dry as air cannot get to it under the grip.
