Does this mean Bianchi's only "track legal" frame will be the Concept?
Seems a bit funny, but I guess there's heaps more money to be made by servicing the fixed generation than providing for the old school. Still, I think it's a shame.

Why is the Pista not track legal?
-
• #279
I meant the head tube angle getting more relaxed. I guess it's something track riders are not too keen on?
-
• #280
the pista is track legal, it's not track specific, at least that what I think.
-
• #281
Ah, yes: legal versus specific. Makes more sense, that way. Cheers.
I guess the Haro manufactured Masi Speciale is of the same breed? Or does it come with rear brake fittings? So how many track specific OTPs are there, nowadays?

When you do find out, do post in OTP Track Bikes. I'll update immediately.

anyone know much about the Archie Wilkinson Speedway **£199 / £460 **
http://archie-wilkinson.co.uk/index....roducts_id=195 they seem pretty vague on information on the bike.. . -

propeller, you can PM Provenrad, as he sold one not long ago.
But just to help, I'm sure the £199** bike **would be plain-guage steel. It would be a bit heavy, but very strong also. The frames sold by Archie Wiliknson are designed for Speedway, which is a rough and tough sport.
I'm guessing these things, as I am positive that for £199 you can't expect titanium or a carbom frame. It could be Aluminium, true, in which case, it would be relatively light. Either way, for that price, what could go wrong? Best as a back-up bike, or a beater, or a polo bike.
For £300 or less, get over to Edwardes Cycles on Walworth Road. They sell good-excellent condition 2nd fg/ss hand bikes. You could probably get something good for £150-£250 quite easily.
I don't blame Archie Wilkinson for not publishing all the details. Its cheap, so it will sell without much effort.

top man
i e-mailed them and the frame is made out of cro-mo steal -
• #287
what brand of bike is this?
-
• #288
Mon, are you referring to the Archie Wilkinson bike, or something else?
The Archie Wilkinson bikes I'm pretty sure they're made of Chinese (or Asian) cro-moly, then re-branded and built up in their shop.

i just figured out it's the charge plug grinder in cream color.
i been calling shops in the bay area of california and i haven't found any. do you know if it's only available in the UK?
-
• #290
they only sell it in olive green, not cream as far as I know, the cream version is merely a prototype I think.

Does anyone know of an OTP (such as the Surly Steamroller) that can fit fatter tyres? I'm really drawn to the surly as you can fit cross tyres, and it doesnt have really relaxed geomitry and the top tube isnt at a nasty angle.
Ideally i'd love to have differnet bikes for different things, but don't have the room and the surly seems to tick lots of boxes. does it have a main rival?

Have you considered the ridgeback solo?
-
• #293
I hadn't no, good point. it looks a bit expensive for a ridgeback though.

how big? Bianchi Pista can fit 28c as far as I know (randonneur rear), Charge Plug can go for a whopping 32c (or more, I don't know).

Cheers Andy. I'll add those later tonight.
EDIT:
I've added the first one to this list, and the others two were added here:

I'd heard the charge can fit quite wide tyres, didnt realise up to 32 though. I was thinking more about treaded cyclocross tyres as i'd quite like to do a bit of canal path and woodland riding (nothing harcode though). I dont think the Bianchi fork has enough clearance for that.
on another note, I went into Brixton cycles for the first time yesterday. my expectations of what a bike shop should be have now been raised a few notches - really great shop, with helpful and friendly staff. top stuff.
