Oh, that thing. I like gmail because it's clean and simple. This new set of changes makes normal gmail more like inbox.
-
• #29
You can go back to the old look via the settings but not sure if you will be able to permanently do that in a week.
-
• #30
Yeah, I know. I've reverted but they always force the change going forward so I normally try and adapt. Don't like lack of button lines and dividing lines in emails. Why make everything one bloody smoosh of stuff. Clear delineation between emails and buttons is much neater.

Was just on a long client call and had mention of a couple of emails sent to me that I hadn't received. Thought it might have been connection issues and moving to a new network or a restart would solve but I can't currently:
send emails from my work account to any other account
send emails from any other account to my work account
Tried on mail app on tablet, laptop and desktop
Tried on chrome and firefox on laptop and desktopI'm the admin. halp.
I use g suite
domain godaddy
host heartI did actually have an email conversation this evening with heart about another account and about re-directing email. I hope they haven't fucked anything up. Any other thoughts?

They fucked it up. They changed their domain today and had me on some old custom nameservers that they stopped paying for in 2012. They're confused why they worked for so long.
At least they were quick to respond and sort. They claim any missing emails should propagate within 72 hours

Still not able to send messages
Sent a load to some clients this morning thinking it was fixed but apparently I can only receive. Hosts not sure what's up. Any thoughts?

Strange, mine have all been fine... Today I even migrated 3,500 emails from one Gmail account to another with zero issues... Which is a bit of a miracle with my track record...
-
• #35
From which domain? Use mxlookup to check its MX records and all that shit to see if there's anything obviously wrong. Use their support service. Hard to fix something based on forum posts with no vis of the issue.
Can you send from gmail directly? Create a test email/fake email using any online free service and send to that to see if you get anything. Takes a minute only.
-
• #37
Also, if they only changed something 16hrs ago, DNS changes could still be propagating.
-
• #38
no YOU'RE an MX record.
Ive checked my domain via https://toolbox.googleapps.com/ green ticks across the board apart from dmarc/dkim (which I presume @Dammit is the forum expert on)
SPF has a blue circled 'i':

130.211.0.0/22I can seemingly send messages from the Mail client and from GMail within Chrome but they have a hit and miss approach on whether they're received.
I can't receive them at my hotmail address from either source. I can receive them at some other domains I own. Other recipients report receiving them, others don't. Really weird. Wholly frustrating as my phone is on the blink as well so I'm using Google Voice for calls and don't have a means to SMS/whatsapp someone for quick 'did you get my email?' checks.

I feel this is likely it. Just a pain in the butt they did it without notifying me and that it coincided with my first serious work since February.
-
• #40
Thanks for this - this is quite fun.

Why not just use a gmail email? There's always risk with adding domains in front of shit, especially with budget DNS providers. We often see sites drop because the 3rd party vanity domains in use are using budget DNS providers.
-
• #42
I use it or variations of this a lot for temporary sign ups to get info on stuff without risking spam, tracking, etc
-
• #43
I know very little about email config but that looks like a lot of SPF entries - isn't there a limit? That's why people tend to use host names that are load balanced down the line, rather than specify every IP address of each mailserver
ie. 172.217.32.0 is Google so why aren't you just using the google hostnames? What do they say about configuring SPF record with use on their service?

I would think that you are getting filtered, if some receivers deliver your messages to get inbox and some don’t. Likely due to reputational issues with (most likely) sending IP but (less likely) the domain.
-
• #46
I used the SPF record template google provided.
They said copy paste this into your txt record on your domain hosting. I did. That was the result :/
Only did it today mind.
-
• #47
Thanks - just confused as to why it's triggered suddenly after a decade of working flawlessly. Presume some issue with the host migrating stuff at their end yesterday. Any clue on how to be... 'un'filtered?
-
• #48
Let me get home and I’ll answer this properly

Please don't spend too much time or thought. I can and have sent (and they've received) emails to the two clients I was most concerned with today. A couple of others iffy and my own hotmail I'm less concerned with. I'll give it the rest of the 72 hours and see where we're at.
Edit: not on whatsapp at the mo btw in case you send there (phone-free 'til october)
