I seem to get punctures when i do a bunch of skids.. does that happen to anyone else?

I can't believe that I am resorting to asking you lot about a puncture, but I am stymied.
I am suffering from a recurrent slow puncture that I just can't figure out.
A brand new rear tyre (Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp) went on a couple of weeks ago, before the Christmas nasty weather. The first time I rode it, it went down almost immediately and I realised that I had fitted the tube badly. Ever since then, I have had a slow puncture on the rear. I have used different tubes, tested the tubes under water for bubbles, checked the tyre multiple times for glass etc, nothing.
If I pump up to 120psi in the evening, I will have lost about 30psi by morning.
What am I missing? It's driving me mad.
Perhaps when you pump it up, air is trapped between the tube and the tyre, which gradually disperses so the tyre seems to be going down? I had this trouble with some giant dmr tyres on my big bmx...

You could try pumping the tube up outside the wheel and leaving it and seeing if it goes down without going anywhere near the wheel and/or tyre. Then if that holds the air well, try it just on the wheel without the tyre. etc, etc.

I managed to ride the bridges last night on it with no problems and it seems reasonably pumped this morning (like me, yeah!). SO, it's now intermittent.
New rim ape will be going on, along with an in house display of obscenely inflated inner tubes.
Thanks for all the ideas.
@ n3lson - I don't this is possible for me, since the pump I am using has a pressure gauge which would be measuring the pressure in the tube, I think?

Oh stop monkeying around.

So how can I spot this delamination?
Re delamination: turn tyre inside out and you'll see where the threads have come away from the inside of the tyre.

Hi all,
I ride my half hour commute three times a week and spend a bit of time riding around on the weekends and I've had three punctures this year already...
Is this a normal frequency or should I be looking for something I'm doing wrong (either in riding or with my bike setup)?

No little tears in your tyre? Took me til about 4 milliseconds before exploding inner tube mid-pump that was my problem.

You ride Contis?
Maybe you've just been unlucky and you'll go six months without another one? I ride Armadillos for somewhat more than an hour a day and very, very rarely have a puncture.
Need more data really. -

used to have punctures regular, till invested in armadillo

I haven't had any punctures in a year... using armadillos and randonners ... both excellent tyres.
Say what you like about armadillos but they last for fucking ever .. I have a pair I know that has done in excess of 2000 miles now.

2 years riding road bikes. never happened yet.
Only had flats when conciously skidding through the woven fabric part of tyre. But what can you expect at that stage?
-
• #421
I'd be wary of claims of no flats on this forum.
This is mainly due to the very little weight put on the tyres, as the bike is pushed around Shoreditch ;)

I put some gatorskins on over christmas and got a puncture last weekend. Although I did go through a puthole I've got a feeling I might have put the tube and or tyre on wrong if thats possible?
-

two flats in 8 months, both happened when using a pump
forgot to unscrew the lock ring on the presta valve
the little nipple in the end of the presta valve decided to seperate itself and fly across the room

I only get a flat when I think to myself 'I haven't had a puncture in so long...', next day - hissssssssssss..flat.

I got one puncture on the OTP tyres I had on my bike so got some Gator Skins and had 4 in one week. It's just luck really.
Oh, and don't ride in the gutter :)
not using latex tubes are you ?
