and i am aware it's alphabetical.
    hey,

    this is music.

  • Ten, Superunknown, Appetite For Destruction, At San Quentin and Nevermind are all favourites. Also:

Mother's Milk - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Moondance - Van Morrison
    The Joshua Tree - U2

I'm always listenin' to the Foos, but I cannae pick one album out over the others.

  • ooh someone's a last.fm user! what are you called on there mate?

You can click through the image. But - it's mark7714

  • fleetwood mac-rumours

  • Does anyone remember a band called My Vitriol? They got loads of Radio 1 lovin' back in about 1999/2000 they only made one album "finelines" it was epic. Like a journey. It had loads of floaty spaced out interludes.
That reminds me of another one... Hopesfall - The Satellite Years. (Space Rock meets Hardcore. Another Journey of an album)

  • Some wicked albums here! I could never whittle it down to so few.

But...I've been sucked in so here's a few I think are good (off the top of my head and trying to exclude those previously mentioned):

    Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
After the Goldrush - Neil Young
Sign O The Times - Prince (tho techinically this ain't a brilliant album - it goes on too long)
    Dolittle - Pixies
    Surfer Rosa - Pixies
13 Chambers - Wu Tang Clan (again prob too long to be a great album)
Bizarre Ride II Pharcyde - Pharcyde (as above but was there ever a good hip hop ALBUM?)
    Nowhere - Ride
    Bryter Later - Nick Drake
    Slanted & Enchanted - Pavement
Abattoir Blues / Lyre of Orpheus - Nick Cave

This omits lots of really good new stuff - but don't think it's stood the test of time to be counted yet (Nick Cave scrapes in - it's been about 5 years since that album came out now...)

Oh, and based on the music tastes shown here, most of you should check out BBC 6 Music (if you haven't already).

  • @ justmouse: PE made some awesome LPs, dude... I'm a guitar boy but those early records are up there with the Stooges... Blazin'!

I never understand how people enjoy Nick Drake,Pavement or Neil Young. I find them boring and monotonous!

My mate used to hate Neil Young and then one day it just clicked for him and he thinks he's wicked now. I guess all of them have 'untraditional' vocals and are what I call 'headphone' music i.e. not great as a 'passive' listen.

But each to their own - that's what makes it all fun.

there ain't no fuckin' where to park - now that's Bullshit"

    Yeah Akala, Fight the Power!

  • Thoughts on Oneida? Been downloading some of their tracks, really like the stoner/long repetitive stuff, but not so much the electronic/erratic stuff, so does anyone have a favourite album by them and why?

  • i'm not sure anyone who's into them will have maintained a long enough attention span to answer VD..
