Who has got a 17mm locknut spanner - we were discussing it on Tuesday and last night I noticed this rattling noise, and the lock nut is about 5mm away from the cone, and there is a washer flapping about in the middle, amazingly everything seems tight still, but it does not look ideal.
Or I could buy one as I probably should own one.
-
• #4595
Do the locknut up finger tight up to the cone for now and by the time you've tightened the track nut up against the dropout it should hold for a reasonable time and lessen the chance of your cone failing and spilling bearings all down the road. Andy has my cone spanners, inc 17mm, ask him nicely or offer him favours... or just use an adjustable wrench carefully.

The voice of reason..... damn no excuse for bike tool purchase.

Dont do any of that. Leave it lose (prefrably with no grease) then ride 116 miles on it. That way, when you stop everyone can gather round and warm there hands on the glowing red hub.

Heated rear Hubs, are they like heated rear windscreens?

if you are considering buying a lock ring tool, I did some research on this recently and the Hozan ones are pretty much the bees knees. You can get them online from planetX/ on-one, they cost roughly £20. Ive got one and they are rock solid
