I did precede and follow it by a bike ride, not sure if that's better or worse? Agree with the point about swimming though. Horrible, useless activity (unless you're at risk of drowning).

That's a great effort.
My best is 1:58, which was followed by deciding to never run a half marathon again. Running for that long is boring.

Hence the motivation to go quicker.
I'd only done one previously, Glasgow 2005, also 1:58. Seven years older and fifteen minutes faster ain't bad going.
