I think there is far too much chat about a certain "performance roadwear" brand based in Kentish Town (yup, they keep that one quiet don't they?)...however the hell of the north route is awfully fun, particularly if you aren't precious about your bike and have more clearance than I have.

I might bE up for a quick drink tonight on the way home from my ride up to spaniards, but will only be a quick one, I'm struggling from the weekend in Newquay and a few days off the sauce and a few long rides might be advisable in the next few weeks

On that point I just saw this and thought of you...
Sportive starting near Kingston going into Surrey. only 65miles. Think it takes in Box Hill twice (oh the horror - that's said sarcastically) and I quote;
'...and ride the route of the big one. We don't need to mention what, when or where you know what we're talking about...'
With this sentence I felt the twang of a dare directed at me, which is a problem. Box Hill is the biggest pile of shit in the world and I'm fed up with people telling me it's hard. It's not. Get over it, just because people have heard of it doesn't make it a cat3 climb.
So I'm thinking of going to do this ride, but (and to use a PGM terminology) I'm going to sneak up on the fucker and sprint the fuck out of it.
Anyone else interested?

2 dates for the diary ( searching for consensus) for the 'NOT Surrey Hills Classic,' a celebration of JD's favourite broker-belt, dogging spots. The route is a little belter - 120k, 1900m of climbing.
Thinking of either 10th or 17th September, departing Waterloo Station for Effingham Jc at a prompt 9-o-clock ish. Who's in?

interesting, i dont want to do a big social ride though but am up for a few hills fixed....i have no gears ;)
