well, i suppose so, if it's easy to spot - on the other hand, i never really trust a patched tube, so would rather replace
-
• #28
except when you get another puncture on the same trip.
one of the tyres on my bike has 3 patches on it
-
• #29
i don't get them as my tyres is hard and i live in the country away from the hypodermics and broken glass that litter every street corner in Tooting
-
• #30
i don't really get the whole puncture repair thing - a new tube is £3.50 or whatever, and easy to carry a spare
Because it's fucking wasteful to keep throwing tubes away on account of a small, easily repairable hole. I'd rather repair a puncture and buy another beer.

fncking hippy got a puncture (not scared to say it) this morning skidded through a tyre, woke me up on my day off (grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!) had to get up, let the bastard in, give him his tyre, loan the use of my track pump and loan him a spare (multi-patched) tube. can't get back to sleep. god i love him.
always carry spare tubes, if they do puncture, slap in a new one. fix the other at work. -
• #32
fix the other at work.
No, no, no, no, no.
Fix it over a beer at the pub. If you don't drink, buy someone a beer to fix it for you. That £3.50 isn't going to spend itself now, is it?

Not quite as good as Jacqui's but getting there..
and this is after flint went through my (albeit already cut to shit) Hutchison on the front last night and not bothering to change it because I'll ride the Condor and then finding the Condor rear flat. FFS

My phone camera is getting a bit tired and doesn't focus properly a lot of the time now. I tried about 10 times to get the fucking thing to focus and gave up so I could get on with the repair.
It's a screw. I have it here with me. I'm yet to think of a suitable punishment for it..

You're holding it hostage. Isn't that enough?

Mad repair skills Jacq!
Worst I had was this bad boy. I don't think patches would help much...

When I scream Feed it to the [insert form of diminutive beast here] in the office, dwarfs is more blood curdling than midgets. Yes, I realise that technically it's dwarves but the use of and f just rolls off the tongue better.

ouch hippy... keep the screw though for good luck!

Ah. I see. In the context of Hippy it is midgets 99% of the time. We have found the 1%.
I too would like to work in an office where blood curlding screams are norm. PM'd.

Awesome!

Whilst we're talking punctures, some plonker has emptied a box of wood screws in the right turn filter lane outside Olympia. Be careful if you're filtering traffic going into Kensington. I managed to cycle about 5 yards after hitting them....

I dreamt I had a puncture last night... Honestly... It was massive...
I was on my way to slacker polo when a giant bang shatters my spinny ride, there's a massive rear puncture, a one inch circle of tyre has disappeared from my tyre... I walk my bike to meet the polo massive behind St Paul's cathedral and JOL offers me a spare tube, as he does this he touches my front tyre which then comes off the rim and explodes, just as I'm trying to get to the valve and release some pressure... He doesn't have another spare tube so I have to go off in search of a bike shop as they all roll off to some mythical polo court deep in my brain... Then I woke up with a mahoosive boner... Weird... ;] -

It wasn't a dream. I like your bedroom decorations. ;)
Easier to remove whole rear wheel and tyre and replace tube or lever off 3" of tyre patch it and be on your way in 5 mins?
