  • SteelS.

    ;-)

  • cheap eBay frame + trispoke mag wheel
lots of bit shaking about in the box. lots of free stuff.

  • Which cheapo/Goku frame did you go for? I'm thinking next time I have dollar I would buy something for a rad rat

    (not my build)

several issues with it, straigh out of the box:

    • very poorly finished. dings and paint chips everywhere.
    • seatpost lock ring is rubbish
    • rear spacing is bigger then described and had to "squeeze" it to screw the wheel
    • the frame/fork dont flush. there's a 3mm gap that neither me or my mechanic could sort out. we tried with rubber o-rings and spacers but it simply doesnt flush.
    • headset and bottom bracket need replacement asap
    • back wheel clearence is rizzla

with 120£ (frame set/rear trispoke/crankset/seatpost/seat/stem) is still a cheap deal. this included shipping too.

  • Mmm yea that's all stuff I'd expect, kinda why I didn't bite as soon as I saw one. Let me know how it feels on the road, maybe it's not complete cheese.

  • This bad boy just arrived in the post from 'murica -

  • I reckon you guys walk around in asbestos suits round the house with all that old crabonz dust in the air...;)

  • have you made sure the valve collar is as tight as you can get it before trying to pump it up? I use plyers to make sure they're on good enough.

  • The tyre has been used but had a cut that sealant couldn't seal. So I repaired the hole. I think the bead has stretched and is too loose to seal.

  • Strange, I can't imagine the cut would have affected the bead, how old is it?

  • I don't think the cut is the problem. I think the tyre has stretched so when putting the air in it does squeeze up against the rim. I have inflated with an inner tube but when I get the tube out the bead lock pops off from both sides of the rim.

  • Kinda wondered about these things. Thought it was a neat solution. Have you tried it on a tyre that's OK?

  • New tyres arrive tomorrow so will try again then.

  • I went out for the evening, came home and tried again. Tyre has seated. Am worried I'll take the valve core out to fill with sealant and that it'll unmount itself.

  • I use one of these:

Works a treat. Not especially portable though.

  • Victory is mine! Sealant in and tyre back up to pressure. Tested with washing liquid solution and its airtight.

  • 2 x Vittoria Pave 27c - the hoarding begins.

  • 2x25 pavé for me.
