Ha! But they are much better though... I was thinking of steel ATAC cleats (I know I am ripping them off, the main reason to not do it) but that means the springs will wear through faster. Spare springs are available and I am buying a few pairs of wonky spring ATAC and going to give it a try replacing them. For some reasons only can find US peeps stock the springs but should be a problem finding one in the UK or Europe with a bit more searching.
Have to says it's a lots of effort and expense to avoid going for spd.
