cheers! obviously I've no need for another Gazelle (and my L'Eroica bike - in case I get in - for 2013 is almost finished already) but it was very, very hard to resist.
orange. restored. gold decals. special bottom bracket shell & seatpost lug...
now I can dream of parts to put on it for another year or so ;-)

Brake bridge off a Dutch Roadster? Dodgy seat clamp bolt can obviously be fixed
-
• #2488
Yes indeed the butterfly bridge is different from my other Gazelle, but I've seen ones like these before on Champion Mondials. They threw all sorts of leftover metal at these frames obviously
Dodgy seat clamp bolt is looking a bit crude indeed, but it will be hard to get the metal insert with threading out from the clamp. Maybe I'll just try to find one that's a bit smaller
Still, not bad at all for the price and, Gazelle thread >>>>

The brake bridge is original. This is the older type (2 holes). The other butterfly brake bridge (6 holes) is on newer frames. No idea when it was changed. This orange frame is older than 1976 for sure.
Brake bridges of city bikes and semi race frames were different again, to accomodate the assembly of carriers, locks en fenders.
For the seat lug: drill it ø 8 mm and use a Sugino bolt.

I hope this one belonged to Sean Kelly himself...

Big thanks to Madison UK for not importing these until 2013 when the rest of the world have seems to have had them available for 2 years.

I've seen those covers several times in catalogues and online.
Do people really use these covers? -
• #2494
You usually get the equivalent in the box when you buy Keo pedals, I've never used mine, but I've seen other people using them.

If you feel you need them, you should probably spend more time on your bike, instead of faffing about in your cycling shoes.

Good catch. Needed one Arius saddle, got 4.
2x Arius Gran Carrera Special (or is is Arius Special Gran Carrera?)
2x Arius Special saddle quilted (same as above, more padding, heavier).
Not al 4 saddles are immaculate, but some are very good and I plan some renovation.

Do you have an Arius Imperator in your collection? They were super cheap, but my memory from the 80s is that it might have been the most comfortable saddle I ever owned.

There's something about a worn saddle... You don't really get that anymore, not in the same way anyway.

No, I don't.
And I don't want it (sorry, don't want to be rude).
At the moment, everything is emotion to me.
I remember when Imperator was introduced. It was just after Concor Supercorsa was released and I loved the Concor (still do). I always saw the Imperator as a cheap remake (not well done) of the Concor. That's why it's a no-no for me.
But for some people it may be a fantastic, comfortable saddle. And yes, it was very affordable, too.
The reason why I was after an Arius Gran Carrera (low budget Unicanitor): see picture.
