I regret that I "gave away" the 1st one, so I had to buy another one.
They're not so expensive here (sometimes).
I'm after a NOS CAmpag one, but the seller still wants EUR 30 for it.

Are there two different kinds, and do they mount through the carcase?

One kind (that some look pointed and others not I think is just a result of manufacture), and you apparently insert them from the outside using needle nose pliers.

I am making the assumption that this will be a pain in the arse kind of job.

Is there an easy way to check? If so I am perfectly happy to do so.

The tungsten core is a different colour from the aluminium, and also much harder, so it's easy to scratch aluminium with the tungsten point but almost impossible to mark the tungsten with the edge of the aluminium surround.

They should be these if they are replacements for winter marathons. Installing them will destroy your fingers, and your will to live.
