there should be an arrow on the side wall, it's a raised rubber one not painted or anything, also the grip grooves point to the front.
same choice of both tyres, :)
couldnt see no arrows on the tires at all . . .

There is one there but it's tiny and really difficult to make out... Check the criss-cross pattern on the sidewall...

not when you can buy 4 tyres for the same price as those, and will last 3/4 (for all four dat is)times longer

Good to see you back Murts.
Randonneur is the only rear tyre you will ever need
-

Basically i'm looking for a hard compound tyre, something that wont just disintegrate in a few skids,
will look up the Randonneur,
cheers for the advice

does not come in 23mm though.... damn

28s look skinny. i'd reckon, with a bit of searching on here, that you could find that the received opinion is that 25s look like a 23.

I was used to running 28's changed to 23mm and have noticed quite an increase in speed and acceleration, so i wll stick to riding 23's i think.

Get a Randonneur, it may be a 28c but it's more like a 25c. They are also nice and fast rolling.
HTFU and get one. They cost fuckall so if you don't like it what's the big deal?

you a salesman for them or something? :) might give em a go then.

pump up the Randonneur to at least 100psi and it'll feel like a 23mm.
mine last about 4 months of hard use (I actually recorded it, 2,000 miles worth of skidding), if you don't skid like all the time, it'll definitely last more than 6 months.

Thats the problem, everyone thinks a different tyre is best....
Ah well i have been offered some armadillo's so will give them ago -
• #167
I've found they last about 3 months if you avoid skidding unless totally necessary.
If you skid all the time they only last like 4/5 weeks.
Still not bad for a £12 tyre.

Armadillos aren't as good.

but i was told they have a hard compound rubber so don't wear too fast and are easy to skid....
-

That information is correct.
Randonneurs are still better.

Re cycled. Murtle and max are both fixie skidders, hence they know the best rear tire for skids and shit.

skids and shit...... i was reffering to skidding on tarmac...... not the shitty brown sort of skids :)

2,000 miles worth of skidding?? That sounds like an exaggeration...
Randos. Too cheap not to. Unless you're racing and need a thin tyre I don't really see the point. The 28s are thin enough for city riding. I've not punctured one yet. [/jinx]

Randos suck balls.
I agree with crane. Weeks not months. Actually less then two weeks. Too soft. Along with halos they are really shit rear tyres. The tyres you linked to, the Soma is THE BEST 23c rear tyre on the plannet.
3-12 months depending on how much you skid and weather conditions. Its £35 well spent pounds. Its also got great side walls, is fast rolling and has good traction for cornering. Its amazing.Don't listen to murts. He is too old to skid and max is too tall :)
The other really good tyre I've discovered is the blk Fyxation. Its 28c tho, but its seems to be as good as the Soma, which is no means feat at all. And it makes an awsome noise when you skid it.
The thing with tyres its all about how you use it, as to how it wears. I know Crane (like I) ride really hard, and without brakes. So I guess we go through tyres much quicker then most (perhaps). So in that case our opinions count more.

My Soma Everwear is goin' great guns, been skiddin' the shit out of it, no flats, loads of tread still there... Recommended!
