Yeah I just don't really get how it's happened. Hopefully they can resolve it but it just seems to have frozen and I can't speak to DHL about the delivery because I'm not the sender... BikeInn are being pretty shit as well.
Oh well, I'll just keep arguing I guess

@andyfallsoff tried ringing PP?
-
• #279
Just now - actually much better (once I managed to get through to an operator, no mean feat)

Lazy question - I've just sold a frame. Person wants to pick up in person to inspect (which I insisted on) and pay by Paypal at exchange. Should I be worried / ask for cash instead?
-

There's no benefit to you with the buyer paying via paypal if they're collecting in-person. You'll actually lose money. Ask for cash.

Ta.

or paypal gift on collection?
-
• #284
Is that instant though - presume I'd still be better off with cash in hand.
-
• #285
Pretty sure it's instant (and non-reversible).

This is bs, right? They sent my new bike to the wrong address and now they are refusing to update it with the delivery company.

Maybe so, but if you cancel the Paypal case then you won't be able to re-open it later if something else goes wrong. Maybe premature on your part but now that you've pulled the plug you should ensure that it goes through Paypal.

I've escalated it to a claim and just like magic they called the delivery company and the bike is on its way to the correct address. Funny how that works.

My PayPal account is EUR but I want to send money in GBP without paying fees. How do I do that?
I have Revolut so ideally I would top up PayPal in GBP and send that but I don't know how exactly. It only shows me options to load up EUR (so I think) to Deutsche Bank.

Go to your wallet, change your primary currency to GBP, then choose to upload funds into your wallet from your Revolut card. It will charge your Revolut in GBP, but at the point of upload, you need to tell it not to do the conversion.
-
• #291
Actually, scratch that, just use the Revolut card as the funding option when sending the money.
-
• #292
It still shows a fee of 2€/2,19 GBP

It's dependant on where your bank account/paypal account is registered. Any cross border/currency transactions will be charged a fee, regardless of where it's funded from-when I was in Germany I just opened a EUR paypal with my German bank acct.
You could perhaps open a Transferwise open border bank account and use that to register a Paypal in your desired currency but don't know what proof they require for that.

Ugh, how annoying. So I really have to open an UK PayPal account even if Revolut has a British IBAN to avoid fees?
-
• #295
As far as my experience tells me, yep. PayPal account stays linked to your original country/currency of origin.
Maybe worth double checking direct with them but it seems a good money spinner for them to do it this way...

I think you could possibly ask the person you're sending money to send a request for money? Then you can choose to fulfill using your revolut card in GBP?

No doubt FX is a good money earner, but because I work for a competitor, I have a completely fee free account. So when I need to pay a foreign currency invoice on PayPal, I pay using my MasterCard from work, and PayPal give me the option of paying in original currency (thus forwarding the charge on to my card provider, which is 0 for me) or exchanging to my account currency with a charge levied. Obviously I always choose the former, and it should be possible, but maybe not in the traditional send money functionality, only in invoice payment.

Nope, still adds fees

Sorry, I tried.

ISold some stuff to a guy in Russia (around £100 worth) and he’s said:
“I now wanted to pay for the order through PayPal, but it turned out that I had a time limit due to the fact that I have been in the system for 3 years and I have been asked for some of my documents for re-registration. I provided everything and they told me that I would be able to continue working with PayPal in 1-3 days. I ask you to wait for payment 1-3 days. I will definitely pay for the order.”
I always get a bit suspicious with stuff like this, but he’s not asking me to send anything so I guess he’s legit?
@andyfallsoff I've had something similar with a mix up between my work address and home postcode (my fault) and there was an address near my home that was "near enough" for the delivery service to deliver and update their system. I spoke to people and they handed it over.
