Reminds me very strongly of Chaim Machlev's more abstract work...

... which I don't actually like very much. Both of those artists have strong ranges with much that I do find attractive, but most pieces in this style really don't do it for me. So impersonal and abstract, looks as if the artist has just been doodling on the customer and isn't really connecting to them. When I see a bunch of these images together, it has the feel of an advertising campaign.

The effect depends very much on it being the only tattoo. You can't put anything else near them or, in most cases, on the same half of the body without diminishing it. I wonder if some of the customers go on to develop the itch for another tattoo and how they resolve that.

I haz no idea what you're talking about ;-)

  • I got another Tattoo by Gary Donnelly today. Definitely felt this one.

  • one way to disguise a sunken chest I suppose

Some good points. I really like this abstract style. I'm aware that my tastes differ a decent amount from most of the stuff posted on this thread but I dig it.

Good point about not putting anything near it. I'd just consider the conspicuous space around it as an element of the larger design.

  • one way to disguise a sunken chest I suppose

    nope, just fat.

  • Sternum = no fun

    Nice piece sumo.

Why a ram's skull? And what does Scoot think? I have to say, I think I'd be fairly startled to see this staring back at me in a moment of intimacy.

  • Miss Mouse - are you really that short?
