Does anyone know any studios worth checking out in New York? Going in November and would like to get something whilst I'm there.

I wouldnt get a tattoo done on holidays, it would be a pain looking after it while you're out and about, drinking, going out, staying somewhere that isnt your own place, etc.

not that hard. buy some cling film, a roll of masking tape and some moisturiser no?

I got tattoo'd while visiting my brother in Edinburgh. It was pretty annoying and I wouldn't want to have to sit on a long plane journey with a fresh tattoo.

I got tattoo'd in Bangkok the day before a long flight on my ankle (rubbish pic up thread somewhere). Didn't bother me in the slightest.

..sitting on a plane with a fresh tattoo, or sitting somewhere else.. it itches the same, doesn't it?

Agreed - I've had tattoos in Thailand, San Francisco and NYC and the fun outweighs subsequent discomfort!

So many good shops in New York , but if you want a real piece of NY tattoo history go see Tony Polito at Old Calcutta in Brooklyn while you still can grab a tattoo from a legend or Mike Perfetto at designs by Michael Angelo in Bensonhurst . At Mike's shop you write your name on the wall and get in line just like the sailors used to .

I got a tattoo on my ankle whilst killing time in Cape Town before a flight. Went straight on the plane with it wrapped up from the shop.I then spent the following few weeks in Mozambique, which is hot and dirty as hell. I didn't really wear any shoes whilst i was there either.
Was no problem at all.

Although i did once get a tattoo on my foot the day before going away on a stag do to Ghent for the 6 Day Racing.... And that really sucked.

Foot tattoos are a bad idea at the best of times!

Reason for going up was actually so the missus could have her calves done by Jemma Jones, also at Rain City. Left is fresh, right is just over a month old.
