Got an email from an American friend of mine, who was telling me how she walked out after about an hour of a tattoo (unfinished) when the artist came back in from a second smoke break, reeking.

Feels like most artists I've been to smoke. It can be a bit rotten if they're right up close to you alright. Dont think I'd ever get to the point of walking out on it, but it would be difficult to say something without causing bad vibes, and then you're sitting there with them in close confinement for another few hours.

Thoughts?

2 fag breaks in an hour, your paying for their time... I reckon that's taking the piss a bit.

Realise I must have got lucky, don't think I've been tattooed by a smoker since I was 15.

I suppose, it goes both ways. Some clients are out for 2 or 3 smokes an hour, I guess if you both smoke you're alright?

As a smoker, I quite like smoke breaks when getting inked. 4 out of 5 of the folk I've been tattooed by smoke, good time for reflection, a chat (when not in some weird position) etc. When I got one that didn't smoke, I waited for her to ask if I wanted a break before even thinking about a fag. She was gentle though. csb

There's a rock chick who goes (or at least used to go) to the metal clubs back in the days, and she has a chest piece which is trad roses on the left, trad roses on the right, and a MASSIVE FUCKING OPTIMUS PRIME HEAD IN THE MIDDLE. Mental.

Nice mandala. I've booked myself in to get my next madala on my forearm with Oliver on the 23rd of March. I will finish my sleeve!

Will that be the last piece of the puzzle, or is there more to come?
