  • Peter Lagergren

  • I like.

  • That's stupid yet really cool at the same time.

  • So anyone catch the Channel 4 documentary the other night? You can watch it on 4od, "my tattoo addiction". Some interesting stories in there, I liked the one about the old racist getting his st georges flag covered up with the japanese stuff.

But for the most part, it was cringeworthy. The scenes from Ayia Napa made my toes curl. Awful dross. Quite surprised that the artists there would be OK with giving people tattoos when they're visibly drunk or on pills.

The most bizarre of all was the guy in his late thirties covering himself in Miley Cyrus tattoos. After his marriage broke up, one day he had some sort of epiphany while listening to one of her songs on the radio and decided to get her name tattooed on him. Three or four times. And names of her songs. And portraits of her.

    Ah yes here it is:

  • ^ I'm all for people getting something personal to them, but Miley Cirus?! It was beyond fucking weird - I think deep down he knew it too - he said at one point 'I worry my obsession will end' - well I'm sorry pal, if that thought has crossed your mind, then the seed has been planted like a self fulfilling prophecy of utterly shit body art

  • everyone on my twitter/facebook were ranting about this program. not watched it though

  • It was a good thing to watch on a cold & wet friday night after a week of work. Mostly junk as Christine says, but some positive and interesting back stories. The guy who had the scorpions on the sides of his head looked fairly hardcore, but after his spells in jail he seemed like he was on the right road, and came across as responsible, and grown up.

But the Miley Cyrus thing... jesus...

  • watched it, thought fuck me, was a bit bemused by tattoo cat girl, who had her five cats tattooed onto her back because she loved them so much, but the work she did on the cover up for her formerly narrow minded father, who was lovely by the way, very honest and aware of who he was and what he had done, was half decent to really nice.

rest of the programme was lowest common denominator sensationalism, and if you hadn't already got a tattoo wasn't really going to convince you to get one. The ayia napa sections could do one, the tattoo artists that were providing a service to drunken youths should get a slap, but everyone's got to make a living, I just wonder how much regret and self loathing they carry with them for putting shit tattoos on drunk teenagers..

  • I thought the sequence with the woman getting her husband's name covered up was good too. You could see that she was almost purging the bad memories (of him running off with someone he met on FB) in a cathartic release when it was being inked over; and her emotion at the end of it when she was crying and hugging the artist was genuine.

But the rest of it was tabloid stuff alright. And to me it didnt look like those tattoo artists in Ayia Napa had any regret at all - the guy at the start showing his standard trash (pair of lips, Ayia Napa 2012, etc), smirking saying that he could do 20 of these really quickly at 40 quid a pop, or whatever the rate was... smirking all the way to the bank.

  • Miley Cyrus guy gave me the creeps big time!

I booked my next session with Oliver Macintosh yesterday at Frith Street to get some more roses in my inner bicep. So excited!

  • Old racist mans Japanese garden had me in stitches!
It was some gravel with 3 cats buried underneath!

  • ooof, nice work there. Very in line with what i'm thinking about. Time to get cracking maybe

Definitely go in and see her. She hardly puts any of her current stuff up. most pictures online are older work especially the stuff on myspace still amazing though. I might put some pics up when I've finished the lining. Can't wait for next session but that's probably the new year now.
