Has anyone had or know of anyone who has had significant solid black work done. I be finally got enough money to get my sleeve started ( I'd like a solid black arm) and I was looking to hear peoples thoughts. Do they need to retouched to compensate for fading? What has been the general reaction? Any recommendations for artists
Ask Lil. Her fella's having his done.
I've had a fair bit as cover up, though nowhere near my original plan as I changed my mind half way.
Retouching is the same as for any tattoo, keep it out the sun and it will last longer. Modern pigment will not "fade" as much as old fashioned ink, and the blacks tend to go grey rather than blue.
Many artists hate solid blackwork as it's boring and time consuming. You often have to work over the area quite lot to get the depth of colour.I would like to see more large solid black pieces, and I would also like to see what people have managed with white over the top, something I may do to my larger black bits. (oo,er)
Pretty much what he said. I dont have anything else to add.
James has about 22hours on his, and it is still patchy in some areas, especially around the elbow which already has been touched up twice.
Be prepared to have people staring at your arm. And ask if you're trying to be Michael Jackson in reverse!
On a similar but different note:
I prefer branding over the top of black instead of white ink. This is the result ofbranding by Quentin from Kalima in Worthing. Not me though
(The spirals)
Altho the downside is it wont always heal as neat. -

Chris Higgins is well worth checking out for heavy black. He works super fast and is an amazing tattooist.

Anyone have any idea where this pic is from or who the model might be, bit of a long stretch I know but if it's been seen anywhere else? Found the pic on 8negro , a Spanish café racer blog and aside from the obvious attraction to the lady in question I'm intrigued by her Éire tattoo and wondered if anyone had seen anymore pics of same... That is all.

I know it Bro', awesome music, friends with Dillinger and supremely easy on the eye... She also seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Ireland which could work to my favour, lulz.
