I saw a Thomas Hooper Iphone case. Too bad I refuse to own an iphone!
Already know what I want next after my sleeve. A gramophone on my back to symbolise that I can hear music with my deafness. Too many plans after 5 years of not getting tattooed.
And as girl, I really like this. -

problem is im only 16... :(Wait, Joe. Don't rush it, because you can get something shitty for cheap and regret it till the kingdom come. Same for stretching. You follow fads now... and they do change every few years. And you never know, perhaps you would want to become a Tory or something later on.

...also lying to your tattooist to get the work done is really bad form. The law won't support them at all if it's proven that you've given false ID. Not that you would do such a thing, I hope.
Save your pennies now because you'll burn through them pretty fast getting top notch work, and there's no excuse to settle for mediocre with the two plus years of enforced study and consideration. It might not feel like it, but you're in a great position to take advantage of looking around people's books etc.
Also some of the better artists can have years long waiting lists. So there might be a wait even after you're legal.I didn't start getting tattooed until I was well into my twenties and it's never held me back.

Eh, there's those who follow fads, and some who wanted it before it became hugely popular.
Ive had my ears stretched for 8yrs, and I know there's some here for longer. :)But definitely do wait.

Come to East London (E15 etc.). Where do you think all those 14 yo gang bangers get their ink done?
All school friends of my step-daughter had some work done by the age of 16. And by work I mean some shitty lettering commemorating their stabbed friends, baby boys, their own names (which is bit shit if you have to lie to the coppers). -

I waited until 18 to start work on my tatt. By then I knew what path I was going to take in life. So far so good.

I worked for years in tattoo parlours, we'd explain why and tbh most underage clients would just go and get it elsewhere, then we'd have to cover it later, and cover-ups were much less sophisticated back then. Hell you can even do it yourself with a needle and ink if you're desperate. Where ther's money changing hands someone will do it.
However the onus is on the clients as well as the tattooists to raise the light in which tattoos and the industry are viewed. It's a slow change, but it is happening.
It's a shame when the type of gang symbols etc (sweeping generalisation here, but this isn't a thesis) that some younger people are tempted to get/do get, brand them permanently as people with low self image and aspirations. I'm not out to judge anyone, but it's always better to see a well thought out piece of work worn by someone who is proud to be in their skin. Tattoos can be beautiful, but they don't make you beautiful, that comes from having a positive attitude about yourself.
/am not a hippy.

There seems to be an increasing rise in shitty, ugly neck tattoo's on the youth at the moment
I saw this grubby little kid in Streatham the other day, can't have been more than 16/17yo - acne, greasy hair, whispy little moustache and he had this massive, awful, black blop on his neck - looked like some kind of wank tribal thing you get in the generic tattoo books up and down the country. Was patchy and ink had fallen out, looked like his mate did it....

I was talking about this with my tattooist ages ago and it seems a shitload of people are getting neck tattoos as their first ones. Maybe its the whole commitment to having a non-hideable statement on their body, although this probably means nothing to many of the ones I've seen. I appreciate good tattoos as much as anyone here but have to agree, I've seen lots of side neck pieces that look shit. Some places are apparently now starting to refuse neck pieces unless the customer is already visibly tattooed but you'll always be able to find somewhere to do it.
I look forward to seeing the first LFGSS neck tattoo on someone soon.
