  • On the back, left arm, got a bit of space left there. Probably gonna go for a sugar skull, not 100% yet

is it a waste on a tough spot like an elbow?? when theres is a possibilty that a lot will fall out.

    although this looks good

why not a star or a spiders web?! ;)

  • That's why I'm going for a consultation. I've seen it before and if the point is between the eyes or on the forehead of the skull it works. We'll see...

  • I need a tattoo by Liam Sparkes!

    Samesies.

I'm putting together some designs to go over with him for my forearm, but I need cash-monies and I have none.

  • I've been doing the same. A couple of friends of mine have had stuff by him and they look so clean. He works really fast as well I'm told.

  • YouTube- Tattooing

    quite interesting.

  • matt found this site, worth a little peak
    http://www.swallowsndaggers.net/

got a full day session on tue, can't wait.

  • got a full day session on tue, can't wait.

Saw her on Monday, she's looking well and quite excited to be doing it. Gonna look ace when its done.

  • ha, more confident when i saw her last. but it is a tricky piece, although she originally suggested. but thats the challenge. she also wants to do the detailed escher self potrait on me at some stage az well.

how did u go with big matt?

  • Went well, fucking sore though after 4 hours round the elbow. Only approximately 20 hours to go now so I'm halfway there.

Have to say, I've never used so much Bepanthen as I have round the back of the elbow as it keeps drying out really quickly.

  • yeah its a tough spot, hence the discussion above with pisti.

a tip, what i do is take a few anti-inflams (ibuprofen) before i go in for a big session, keeps swelling down to a minimum.

    get some pics up

  • I usually use preparation h for the beginning of healing. It's kind of greasy and breathable so keeps stuff from drying out a lot better than bepanthen in my experience. Might be worth a try.

  • Its worth re-cling filming it (elbow) for a couple of days after (so said my tattooed friend)

  • It's entering that flaky stage now so not much longer to go with it. I'll post a pic or two when it's finished which will probably be October/November.

Thanks for the suggestions although I was told not to use preparation H on one ages ago. Cant remember the reasons now but it seemed convincing enough at the time. It wasn't a hassle re-applying the bepanthen, I just noticed I needed to do it more often than on other places. It's always fun having someone walk in to your office with you looking like you're trying to lick your elbow. (this is how I assumed it looked)

  • Everyone has different suggestions on aftercare most the time so I don't think there's any right answer. Just what you find best. I use prep h to keep stuff from scabbing up the first 3-4 days then leave it to flake off at it's own pace and then use bepanthan for when most the flakings done and it's healing up with the slight sheen to the skin.

I always found bepanthan a bit thick to apply while it's still flaking but my girlfriend uses it from the go.

  • in the past i've tried to keep cling on for 2 - 3 days min to stop it drying out, showering and cleaning as well of course. Start off with bepanthen then alternate between savlon cream and vaseline, then for about 2-3 weeks use vaseline intensive care moisturizer. smells well dreamy and the colour and detail of my sleeve is crystal clear.

  • Wrapping it for days seems a little dodgy. Ive done it before but it really seems like a breeding ground for germs and infection

  • that why i mentioned showering and cleaning as well - and of course you're applying bepanthen which is anti-bacterial etc. In some ways i think it could be better as it's keeping all the dirt/grime/crap in the air and surrounding enviroment off, like treating a burn.

all i can say is the wrapping was advice given by 2 of the best artists I've met/seen and it's done well for me, and i appreciate it when i see other people with blotchy shading etc... how much of that is down to the artist themself rather than the aftercare i have no idea.

These are the exact reasons that I had done it before.
I got the fear after reading stuff on the internet so I decided to keep my newest unwrapped (except for the first few nights) and it turned out perfect. This was against the advice of the tattooist though.

  • i use only bepahthen, and keep cling film on it for 3-4 days to stop it scabbing so much,
changing the cling film 3-4 times a day, everytime washing and applying bepanthen

I always found this until I got the tip to soak the tube in a sink of hot (not boiling) water for about ten minutes before you apply it. Thins it right out.

good call, I'd noticed it's much easier to use in the summer.

  • Bepanthen and Prep H are useless to me (Fucking sharkfin).
Any other vegans on this thread? What do you guys use?

Had this suggested to me but i reckoned warming it would help any bacteria in the tube breed.
