  • ok. but you should come over and cook first and then i'll come tent shopping with you. where are you going tent shopping?

  • london... i'll be there in a bit, have to finish my tea frist... so see you in like 1 hour

  • You two not got a phone? Stop hijacking....

mary i also need to go phone shopping

  • awesome.

(and i apologise for hijacking the thread)

  • wales is that green bit with all the trees with the hills you should try it some time.

  • gussetslurpers is German isn't it?

  • wales is that green bit with all the trees with the hills you should try it some time.

England has those too. You should try getting out of London for a bit.

  • England has those too. You should try getting out of London for a bit.

    +1

  • wales is that bit that should have a 50ft fence from Chester down to The Severn estuary you should try it some time.

I can see absolutely no reason for anyone, let alone a tourist visiting London to waste their time going to Wales. Come on mate, 23 people have killed themselves in Port Talbot in the last year......says it all

  • If you're a sceptic then you'd take pleasure from The London Dungeon, FACT!

Don't forget they'll be tourists and that's what tourists do. I'm in Paris and I've done more in 2 months than what everyone in my office has done put together, going to places they'd never heard of let alone visited

I know what the usual tourist haunts are, and I know tourists are obligated to visit them. When I was living in NY, I had to go to the top of the Empire State Building 3 times, because I kept having out-of-town visitors who wanted to go.

By all means, visit the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus... but London Dungeon is crap. IMHO.

Actually, could you PM me with some suggestions for less well-known stuff to do in Paris? I'm going to Paris in October for the 4th time, with yet another Paris virgin, and I'm thoroughly sick of the usual tourist stuff.

I'm itching to try out Velib though.

  • my choice- don't plan anything, get lost in london on an aimless wander and see what you discover.
much more fun- pretty much what I do wherever I go.

The Velibs are fucking ace. I had a great journey from Paris Nord to Paris Lyon on them to catch a train.

  • Get Velib
    Ride to patisserie, load up
    Ride to market, buy beverage
Ride to somewhere green, watch the world go by..

  • and how many people have killed them selfs in london in the last 24 hours.
i am out of london infact i'm rarely in london.

why not go see some of the nice bits of the UK, england is only one country go see some of the other parts of the UNITED KINGDOM.

Piccadilly Circus?! And do what, take photo's of Burger King, Gap, Lillywhites and Eros with loads of 'tourists' in the way?

  • If you're out for a bit of unguided riding the cycling maps are fairly handy and free from bike shops, some tube stations and other places. #10 covers most of Central London and attractions.

Not as well know a museum but worth a look. Information form thousands of years ago up to the present day. Excellent museum.

+1 to getting out of London too. The UK is not just London despite what many tourist and even many London residents would have you believe..

But considering Port Talbot has a population of about 87 I'd say the figures are pretty alarming. And before you ask, yes I have been there, it's a fucking hole!

Back on track - to our American visitors, leave Wales well alone but DEFO visit Scotland if you have time
Ask Walkersan on here for some tips and advice. Oh, hang on a minute....

  • go to hyde park and feed the squirrels. it's one of my favorite things to do in london. they come right up to you and sit on your lap!

My bad. Most people on here don't seem to venture more than 20k from their door.
With only 2 weeks though I'm not sure they'd be making it too far from London unless they're going to use the trains rather than cycle?

I'll be making my first visit to Wales in a couple of weeks..

It rocks. I took my young lady on it the other weekend and saw more of London than I've seen in years of living here. The funny thing was that most of the people on the tour were Londoners!

  • .

  • Don't feed the squirrels. It encourages them to associate humans with food too closely, this encourages them to become aggressive when they don't get what they want results in someone getting bitten. Squirrels are wild animal leave them alone, let them scavenge but don't encourage them to become too comfortable with close human contact.

  • oh Tommy, Mary and the squirrel make such a sweet photo, leave 'em alone....
