ive locked mine a fair few times on byres across from somerfield with a cable lock, its fine.Well, I had a bike stolen from Byres Rd a while ago, as did a friend, as did someone I work with... the police view it as one of the worst around for bike theft, since the thiefs are specifically targeting bikes, and are pretty good at what they do. It's not a safe spot unless you're in and out a shop.

That white fixed bike is always outside Hillhead. So much that I'm sure it is hardly ridden. I've also seen bikes locked up on Woodlands Road for days without issues.

Ah, maybe I'm just being paranoid...
-

I'm not denying there is theft in Glasgow, I just think that vandalism is the bigger problem to locked bicycles.

Has anyone got experience with those holsters and full-lenght Kryptonite D-locks? Does it fit? Does it slap your bum all the time?

Bigger locks dont fit - but you could make one pretty easily

I have a lil man bag that i found a oxfam for £2
Fits pump,Mini D,tube,leavers,spanner,keys,wallet phone
I want to make it a belt like this though
Assuming you got the Fixed magazine that has been released not long ago, no doubt you've read about the lock holster from Fabric Horse that's reasonably cheap, made of recycle material (what's better than salvaging car part for cycling used?), and simple to use.
I just got mine last week, it's simpler than I thought and it look like summat you could make yourself, the idea of using car seatbelt is genius as the material is quite strong, doesn't seemed to stretch overtime and it's quite light, it's design to go on the belt and as far as I know, hold the Kryptonite Evolution Mini without complication, it look like it won't hold it and would fell off, but I assure you it wouldn't, in fact it's a bit hard to push it off by force.
After riding around London for a week with it, it's much more comfortable than I thought it would be, it take me a short while to get used to the weight on the belt but otherwise fine, I got so used to it, that it made an embarrassing "clang" as I forget I was wearing a lock when I went to the toliet as it drop to the floor, you work out the rest.
£4 for a lock holster, add an extra £3 it deliver to Londinium from Fabric Horse's website, even with the P&P I think it's a great little product, well recommended for only £7.
edited it has been one month and so far it still hold up remarkably well, slight sign of used (darker due to dirt), but it still in what appear exactly the same condition as I got it.
