I haven't seen them so couldn't comment. What's the beef with 'old skool' style kit on a newer non-lugged frame anyway?

That kinda confuses me. Is lugged old skool? Fillet brazed has been around since the 1930s and bj, mercian et al all do bang up to date lugged frames.

Lugged was around before fillet brazed (IIRC) or newer still TIG/MIG welded frames. Just trying to work out Dog's dislike of mixing some components with others. Not sure if it's purely subjective aesthetics or some sort of code with which some components can or can't go with others depending upon their 'perceived' age or period. As in actual fact any Brooks saddle made today may be made the same way as they used to be but it's still a brand new saddle...

But each to their own and all that, just curious and work's a bit sloooooow.

So to be the total newbie I have to ask, been googling for hours...a sprocket for a phil hub, what threading? 1.370 24 tpi? or 1.375 24 tpi?

Phils sprockets are 1.370" x 24 tp, so that's what the hubs want. Buy a phil sproket, they are all shiny.
