  • I've got the shimano sm-sh51 (looks like the above) and have never had a problem. are they multi release?

    SIngle direction.

I took multirelease to mean twisting in either direction (like Crank bros) but on further inspection it looks like you pull back out of them too. Not the best for fixed gear cycling then.

  • I'm not sure what hte point is of the multi release cleats. If you can come uncliped by pulling up as the picture implies what is the point?

  • I thought it was showing the heel lifting. But as pedals go round I cant see this working so I assummed you could pull backwards.

  • drdingy
wallington ????? surrey ? shit i went to school there, have not been back in years ! is it still there ?

  • I recently decided to upgrade from clipped pedals to clipless, as i have no previous experience in either choosing them or riding with them i would really appreciate any advice or recommendations, i really like the look of SIDI Genius 5
    Thanks, J

  • I (along with a few other forumengers that I know of) have these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_R1_Road_Shoes_08/5360033177/

Perfectly acceptable, no complaints, obviously if you can afford more you can get better shoes but for a first pair of shoes they're great.

  • They look good, the price is even better! how did the sizing work out for you?

  • They're a nice fit, if you have wide feet you might think they're a bit of a squeeze but they fit like a glove.

    Well, a shoe shaped glove...

  • What size are you, there are a nice pair of SIDIs on offer on here:

  • Sadly they're a few sizes too big, other than that, they look perfect, thanks

  • i bought some of these as my first pair

technically mtb shoes but they've got a bit of flex to them and you can get away with wearing them in the pub.

Are they solely for on the bike or do you plan to walk around a bit in them? If it's just for the bike then road shoes are fine. But if you want to pop down the shops in them ;) Then my recommendation would be MTB shoes. Sidi Dominators FTW!

  • If you have medium to narrow feet, like wot I do, I can recommend Adidas Minrett. They're cheapish and look like standard trainers. Mine are just starting to get slightly tatty after a year, which I reckon is fair enough.

+1, and I'm pretty sure Fiddy once said my shoes looked 'snazzy', what more of a recommendation do you need!

  • Though the black ones are obviously the pair to get =P

as my first pair, pretty much identical to the road version suggested by mmccarthy but with some tred so you can actually walk in them, i wear them everyday. it depends what you need them for but if you intend on walking more than a few meters in them go for mountainbike shoes

  • These look good for the money if you have size 41 feet (45 is gone because I've just bought them to replace the tatty Minretts): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370153725877

  • ^ Only if you want to look like a fucking spaz. Sunshine bus shoes.

  • I always look like a spaz, so that's immaterial to me.

Yeah i'd definitely go for those over the R1, unless you've got look cleats (like myself) or other cleats that aren't SPD.

  • What size you after ?

I've got some size 44 Shimano mtb shoes and pedals going for £20 - http://www.londonfgss.com/thread21663.html

    Will get you started.

Sorry, just re-read that. I wasn't trying to be a dick.
