How are you identifying class in these instances?
i was worried about upsetting lower class white cyclist, they are so poor and high on crack they can't afford or maintain a bike. The upper classes don't cycle, if they do it's in the grounds of their mansions so we don't see them on the roads.
therefore the inclussion of middle class was safe;)

That's what gets on my tits about the middle classes sometimes. It's all so safe, but many of them won't admit it :S Anyway, I'm not about to start some big class war diatribe.
I had to make the choice between buying crack, and buying a bike. I ended up buying a bike that's white, rock hard, explosive, and gets high very quickly whilst facilitating dodgy descents.

Seriously though, it's definitely sooties wot is makin the roads worser.
fucking right about that, look he's not even concentrating on the road!:

My guess is that the great majority of criminals who actually are sent to jail, began their career stealing bikes.
Looks like Andrea's ignorance isn't limited to racism. Whilst I'm no apologist for criminals, to assume that the majority people in prison are career criminals and that bike theft is a predominant entry level type crime is shockingly dumb. Two Daily Mail-esque entries in three months may be the signs of a worrying trend.

I think the problem you have mate is that trying to link civility to ethnicity apart from being demonstratively wrong it is very likely to cause offense.
+10 for nailing on the head

Damn, I have a bleak future ahead....

Just don't get greedy, stop when you have the carribean island, drugs plantation, diamond mine and army of minions. It's the desperate grasp for global domination through tax avoision that trips up most people.

the topic is how to raise standards of civility in a multi-cultural society; name calling doesn’t really address the issue (neither is saying “everyone is just as bad”).
this is all very suspect..
"the issue" being what? that people share the road less in a multi cultural society?
it certainly seems that way.
unfortunately, it IS racist, and everyone IS just as bad! as anyone who's cycled in the rest of the UK will attest.
In the main, drivers treat us like shit everywhere, windsor to westminster, marlow to monmouthshire and fucking brixton to fucking belgravia.
don't try to defend it, it's a poorly written piece with (at worst) biggoted views and (at best) a clueless approach to a non-existant issue.

Good post fella - you manage your aggression well!
The truth be told Markyboy, is that when I get angry, and I mean really angry, I do something about it. And I have. The powers-that-be will be taking an interest; I have made sure of that.
Yesterday morning on Old Street, a guy almost knocked me off my bike, into a parked vehicle. My response was extremely physical, and very aggresive. He won't do that again. But there are different responses required for different events. There are laws and bodies that do not allow overt racism in this country; clearly the owner of Velorution wants to test himself against these authorities. A grave error.

Maybe I have harsh standards, I've been in Velorution a couple of times didn't partic. like it but have considered buying stuff there but after this even with an apology I would never use that shop and would never recommend it to anyone. I don't think you can say that kind of stuff and then apologise for it thus making it ok....
Hey, I am not suggesting that you should go back there, and I agree that you can't say that stuff and then apologise for it, and somehow make it ok, but I do think it's the very minimum that Andrea could do.
-

Buffalo Bill, I think an apology is too late now. Andrea should save his breath for the questions that people will be asking him soon. He will be needing all his breath, and his most convincing qualities.
-
• #92
I agree that an apology is too late, but at the moment the post is still up there - hence why I emailed the guy. Like I said, it's the least that he could do.

Buffalo Bill, if he takes the post down, does that mean he will then be a nicer and more inclusive person?
People have a right to be prejudiced against others, but not in a way that can can cause harm or offence generally. He owns a business, so he's knowledgeable person, so he profits from his good plans and merchandise, but will pay for mistakes. That is life for all of us.

Teenslain, mate, I'll only ride with you if you're skinny.
We can do the sort of "Bud Abbott - Lou Costello" thing.
