The original article has this picture of a black woman on a singlespeed tagged as "Image of a lady who raises standards" which just added to my confusion about what the author was trying to convey. I think I wrote it off as a garbled "lost in translation" moment from someone whose first language isn't English. but it remains fucked up.

Um, that's pretty frickin shocking! For so many more obvious reasons than the amount of white white van men and white black cabbies that try to hit me on my daily commute.

I suspect the point he's trying to make is that there's very little sense of community in London because it's such a melting pot and so many people who are here during the day don't live here.

Judging by his fairly solid grasp of the english language, i can't see how it not being his first language could have caused such a spectacular faux-pas. I think he needs to apologise to... well more or less everyone in london, actually - he managed to more or less cover all of the bases.
