Vic: not that you have to give a shit but I don't think a kid who slaps a girl's bottom - in a moment of cheekiness or naughtiness - necessarily turns into a rapist. Which I know is not exactly what you said but it was fairly close. I know it's not nice to get your bottom groped or slapped by someone you don't want (an old pissed woman did it to me once and a couple of laughing girls did it - both times I was most put out) but it doesn't mean they're rapist material, that's a much darker thing.
...
I mean I'm just trying to give a scenario from the non-rapist conclusion...I didn't say he will definitely become a rapist, I said
- most likely he is on the way to becoming 'just a silly kid who got dared to pull a silly stunt by his silly friends' - probably in a few years time a silly stunt like knifing someone, or raping a girl.
...particularly as he clearly has very little respect for women at the tender age of 13. Had someone like cg5154 not pulled him up for groping her (for this is essentially what it was - sexual harrassment, he is not sexually unaware at 13), is his respect for women likely to increase? No. He's could be a very easily led sort, probably goaded into doing something [relatively] morally reprehensible (IMO). Or maybe, worse, he didn't need any encouragement from his friends to do such a thing - either way, it's a bad scene, and who knows what he will turn into? He could turn into a great person as you say, true, but behaviour like that also says that he could turn into a real nasty bit of work. 50/50 chance of going either way (let's say so in an ideal world - his chances in reality are more likely to be skewed) - so why take the risk and not pull him up for it? What he did was not ok and the sooner behavour like that is nipped in the bud, the better. cg5154 did something that can only be a good thing.

And Build, I met him and he seems pretty handy, more of a biter and pie thrower, but useful nonetheless.

Blinding idea lets get some structure to it and have cg5154 to dress skimpy and walk round with round cards :)

I'd hit him back, maybe Id get beaten, maybe not - but a slap on the arse..... get a grip! Use a bit of equal force and slap his arse not drag him down the street and get him arrested for doing nothing just because the Police are f**king mad. They should have arrested u.
Jon, you're a dick

maybe he's in training to be a bike thief but apologies bike thieves are invincible;the police just want to allocate their resources on some kid having a joke infront of his mates.Had he hit you in the face or slashed your arm with a knife I could understand the arrest.

Thing is, Jon is actually a really nice bloke (only met him the once) so this is quite out of character ?

I think Jon may have got the wrong idea and imagines that CG is a man, might explain his baffling stance.
not that I think ANYONE should have their personal space invaded by some little shithead.
for the "just a bit of fun brigade" I give you this angle:
Imagine a woman who was raped ,but through strength and courage has managed to rebuild her life and get back to some semblance of normality, just walking down the street alone is a challenge. Can you imagine what kind of effect that "harmless" slap or grope would have on someone like that?
I certainly can't, but I damn well know the difference between wrong and right, and society fails to deliver on a daily basis.
it's not about the police, it's about US. Our reactions and actions to things that go on in the street.
eggpie said it:
"Its precisely because we dont try to confront this kind of behaviour as a society that its become so prevalent. -

I agree, RPM, I think eggpie was spot-on.

sound common sense, absolutely agree.
HARRIS I was with you massively, but RPM rinsed it there with a very sobering possibility. Saying that though it would be a bit like a comedian doing jokes about the one thing in life you've got as a seriously unfunny reality - an alzheimer's joke at a comedy club when you're losing your wife on a daily basis will be harrowing as those around you bay with laughter (though I personally think anyone who does alzheimer's jokes is a low sort, try living it idiot) - the cirumstances of the victim do not necessarily reflect the intentions of the originator - ie in this situation if a kid knew that the woman had been raped and was psychologically ruined by it, would he still do it?
But that's all on the back of, yeah, you shouldn't be slapping a girl's arse and yeah, it is some kind of demonstration of disrespect, even at thirteen. A young teenager doing this is not in the same league as some yob glassing you in a bar though, sorry I don't think it is in this case.

A friend of mine (19 at the time) used to say that teenagers should be killed at birth.
This thread is boring.
