It means you get faster data connections but at the expense of battery power. It's often described as being like moving from dial up to broadband but on your mobile.

I've been working in the mobile phone industry for the past 15 years and the wonder that is 3G is kind of like a running joke/weeping open sore.

I had one of the mobiles once I threw away when everyone kept complaining that I had it switched off

i'm a gadget nerd (that's what they pay me for) and i'm not getting an iPhone: the compulsory plans are extortionate and the camera on it is crap.

the app store bit is promising though. lots of third-party apps to add cool functionality spells big potential.

got a 3g. no queing tho, youd think if people were desperate enough to get up at 5am and que, they'd just have ordered one on monday.

i am a mac user, just to establish that this isn't an 'anti mac' rant....i love mac products..

HOWEVER

i personally prefer the blackberrys, as much as 'touch screen' is 'cool' and a novelty i think it isn't great for the fact that you get a greasy screen and you don't get a click feel when you press it, granted the iphone will probably have a click noise when you touch one of the buttons but its not the same as when you press something and feel the click to know that you have pressed it, if you get what i mean? ha

also i must confess, the web browser on the iphone is better than the blackberry however other than this one feature i think blackberry wins on all other accounts.

each to their own i guess.

at the end of the day, their both top products that do their job efficiently so perhaps it comes down to what 'looks' better on the account of your personal opinion?

Shouldn't the collective term 'NERD' be employed for both gadget nerds and bike nerds alke? Is there a real need to segregate this community further?
