There are plenty of threads and posts on here using fixie, rather than fixed, so there are obviously plenty of other people who use the expression.

The reason people correct each other is that it is called a Fixed Gear Bicycle, Fixed for short.

Fixie is god knows what, probably invented by some new labour cunt journalist writing some urban hipster piece in the guardian.

Fixie is an old term. The first time I heard it was from an old tutor in 2001 who rode fixies back in the 1950s.

People can use whatever name the like. People give different names to all kinds of things.
