oh I'll be wearing lycra mate. I bought some for this ride after RPM and Jacqui sat me down and had a stern word about jeans and frayed perineums.
Crikey! That sounds righteously unpleasant...
Rest assured though Pajamas, I'll be fulfilling the trinity of idiocy on this ride: fixed, daftly innapropriate bike and no lycra...I can't wait!
(I have geared down for the occassion though, I was brought up in Kent so know a lot of the roads on the route)

it's a nice route, wafting between the kent/sussex borders..
I prefer Harveys to Shit n' Scream..
you could try the idea me and jonny came up with: a pint every ten miles.

no wind this weekend too, you lucky people!
-
• #155
Hot and sunny this weekend too, fingers crossed

which part? the egotistical too-cool-for-school hipster?
seriously though, no-one really likes lycra (except perhaps dogsdinner) but it IS more comfortable for cycling.
more comfort= happy rider= better ride= beer tastes better at the end

Yeah that is fine but you'd best let us know where that will be.
Note: We will be coming up the South Lambeth Road through Stockwell, past Brixton Cycles/Skatepark and joining the A23 there(from buslane right into A23). -

I'm on 47x18 (70ish inches), I ran 49x18 for the Oxford ride and it was fine...I'm anticipating this one to be a bit more up-and-downy though

how long do we expect the ride to take? am assuming a similar pace to the canterbury ride given the mixed abilities.
-
• #163
Everybody can do at least 25KMs per hour.
Barring breakdowns and hospitalisations, four and a bit hours actual riding. -
• #164
4 hours! are you pullin me leg? maybe I will come after all.
-
• #165
come skully you can't be worse than me!
all these conversation is making me think about not coming at all.
i even put a 19 cog at the back thinking about this... -
• #166
which part? the egotistical too-cool-for-school hipster?
no, the part of me that always thought lycra showed your nob and arse and should be reserved for aerobics instructors and ice skaters.
-
• #167
tika, do it and if you want to bail out I'm sure there are plenty of stations along the way
