• They have. Google 'cleat covers'.

  • ...well whatdya know? clever buggers.

Does any body here use them?
    If not, why?

  • I use them on my road shoes, they work well but still mean you walk like a duck.

  • ...bollocks! I've Theo Pathitis on the phone...

  • Cleat covers are only really made for SLD-SL/Road type cleats where the cleat is not recessed into the shoe

The duck walk is the case with all road shoes. I imagine it would be great for recessed types.

  • First day commuting in my mission/DZR Rondels. All seems fine, need to get used to where the cleat is, but overall very comfy, stiff enough to 'get the power down', but i'd still only have them if they were this cheap all the time (got mine for £50 off of the forum).

  • Missus brought me the Mission Rondels as an early christmas present, very unexpected.

it's not as stiff as the old mavic mtb shoes, but it's definitely feel more comfortable, says feel like there's more float than you'd expect which is a nice feeling, perfect shoes for commuting I'd says.

cleat still stick out a tiny bits (time atac), but still pretty good, what I like the most is that when I unclip I often put my feet back in avoiding the cleat and being able to have a flat platform to stand on is immensely useful when I don't have to worry about slipping off the pedal like the mtb shoes which have a plastic centre.

  • I agree. annoying sqeaky noises at the mo as i need to move the cleat over a little - at the mo the very edge of the rubber sole brushes a tiny bit on the crank arm, its already annoying.

  • Yeah that happen to me, but I just push my feet a little away from the cranks and it's all fine.

  • Just ordered those 661 filter shoes. Should be with me by the new year.
Spotted these Vans just now as well, they look pretty good.

They look like the spazzy kids caliper shoes when I was at school(political correctness wasn't in force when I was a child).

  • they looks like average skate shoes.

  • I met someone who had a set of the vans, he said that the cleat wasn't recessed far enough so it was slightly raised above the level of the sole leading to clunky walking. Also that the soles them selves were to thin and soft so the cleat dug into you foot Bike Radar agrees. How ever I know one person who owns the 661 shoes and one who owns these shimano ones Shimano ones and they both seem very pleased.

  • Hmmm, im contemplating a pair of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=58910 over the 661's having decided that I cant afford to shell out fuckloads on new shoes (ie Sidis, or super expensive winter spd's), and id also like something a bit more casual-ey for everyday wear...

  • I have some 661's in pretty good nick, currently residing with Miss Socks - that I'm willing to let go for a song if anyone's interested. Size 44. They're the 2009 ones I think, I've used them about 3-4 times and I don't think Socks has used them at all. £15 if anyone wants them PM me. You'd have to collect them from The house of socks in East London somewhere.

    EDIT: They're actually a 44 - my mistake.

  • Got my 661 filters today. They're the 08 model I think. Really impressed so far. Feel nice and secure when on, the soles feel really stiff and my ATAC cleats don't go below the tread so I don't sound like a tap dancer. Been riding around central and walking around art gallery's and couldn't be happier. They even come with screws for the cleats and look a lot better in the flesh than in photos, just like any old skate shoes.

  • Those five ten hellcats looks pretty good too.

  • Ordered them today, will report back when they arrive

    nice review henry.

  • cheers brah.

Still have them? What colour are they?

  • Hmmm... Those hellcats look good, but a bit bland, i like the colour on these .

  • Black is good, there is already a "trainers that look like a unicorn puked on them" thread somewhere else..

  • First impressions of the Hellcats is good, the soles feel super stiff for skate style spd's, the cleats are well recessed and they're comfy as fuck, Hopefully they ride as good as they feel. perfect!
