• Any recommemdations for SPD shoes for someone with wide (and flat) feet? Using metal toeclips is starting to kill my toes.

  • They also come in wide.

I find I may need to go one size bigger for the wide version compare to the sidi.

  • I did read about this, via Google, and apparently that sole issue has been rectified with newer versions. I didn't realise you mentioned them as you were going on about the boot.

  • This. Any suggestions?

  • @Muppetteer I haven't tried them, but having seen them in the flesh (well, leather) they look good. They lack the 3M retroreflective stripe down the heel which the Quoc Pham shoes have, but other than that look very similar.

I went through the leather on the heel of the Quoc Phams I own. They lasted a long time (I only got a hole in the heel within the last 6 months or so) but they started to wear there very quickly and ended up looking pretty dog-eared for most of their lifespan, irrespective of my efforts to look after them. I think the very thin, flat sole with no heel was part of the problem.

  • Gonna try these instead. Giro Chamber mid. Half price at Evans.

  • I've had a pair for 3 or 4 months. I rate them. Might even buy another pair if they're half price.

  • £65 down from £125 with their 20% extra discount offer.

  • How are they in the rain? Keep much water out?

  • Thanks for the heads up.

  • I haven't worn them in heavy rain yet so I can't really say. They've held up in the light showers so far.

  • Has anyone used the Giro Rumble VR for any proper amount of hiking in? I'm off to Tenerife for some mountain biking but also strolling over the volcano, and wondered whether they'd be up to the job. I'm taking road and MTB shoes with me as it is, and can't be arsed taking a pair of proper walking boots as well unless absolutely necessary.

  • Has anybody seen these in the flesh?

    SPECIALIZED RECON MIXED TERRAIN SHOES

  • Tempted by these, I might have asked this before, or other people might... how's the fitting like with Giro shoes? I am normally a EU 40, but almost every site / size chart I have seen of Giro shoes suggests they are quite small? My shimano SPDs at the moment is EU 40 and it's ever so slight large, but 39 wouldn't have fitted.

  • Bought a pair of Chrome Storm Truks less then two months ago. Found out they weren't waterproof after the first time I wore them out in a downpour. Was pretty pissed off but willing to let that go but now they're coming apart. Have a return request in with Chrome at the moment.

Anyone else have problems with these shoes?

  • On My chromes the recess wasnt deep enough so I had a big metal clack when walking and a point of my stride where I had no traction on the ground.

  • Anyone else have problems with these shoes?

Yes, loads of people. They're pretty shite from all the stories I've read.

  • I have a two year old pair of Chrome Midways, still going strong, no complaints. My Time cleats are still nicely recessed too. Looks like you got a bit of bad luck with that model of shoe.

  • i have the giro chamber in black, a bit on the bulky side, strong and super sturdy! not super elegant...

  • I've had about three pairs of Chromes that got warrantied because the sole kept snapping. In the end I just got a bag instead, which is faultless, but my feet are cold.

  • I've got the Chrome duffle which I've used everyday for well over a year in all conditions without any complaints whatsoever. Was hoping these would be the shoe version of said bag, sadly not.

  • snapped my third pair of Quoc Pham's last week.

the last pair last for 1 month of messenger work, back to chrome and see if they have fix the glue problem :)

  • I've got some spare black DZR Minna's going spare in 44/9.5
worn 2 times in dry weather so look like new - £95 cheapest online so how about half price at £42.50 posted?
