  • Fair enough. What DO you do when it rains?!

  • we go a floor down, it's not so bad actually

  • gus actually prefers it, he likes the added risk of bangin' his nopper on the ceiling.

  • Right, well I've managed to fit my fixed cog so I'll be able to try a few proper tricks on tuesday. It can't come quick enough!
Does anybody go anywhere else on regular occaisions to practice? I'd love to ride more often than once a week, even if just for an hour or so.

  • Sorry for the double post but...
Is there a catagory/area where we can talk about things like tricks? The only place I've found so far is this thread, but this is more about meeting up to trick, not about tricks themselves.
I'm surprised there's not an area within one of the catagories specifically for tricks and the like.
    Just a thought.

  • why the pic of me on the phone to the missus? I was getting blasted for not getting nappies earlier in the day... nice shadow though

  • because you managed to stay still for almost five minutes allowed me to able to carefully take the shot.

  • Does anybody meet up at any other times at all? I might not be able to make it on tuesday, so was wondering if a few people might want to meet up another night.

    start one, mate!

  • I think I shall!

I am, afterall, available on tuesday now! But I'd still be up for meeting another night for some extra practice if anybody is interested.

  • i fucking love that chessini Crabtree

  • address details, map and time put up in original post now.

reading over those early posts again - we seem to have achieved what we were looking to establish and much more. tuesday nights are great fun and a good social too - if you have been thinking about coming down, do it.. winter is doing nothing to dampen the enthusiasm and the nights seem to be getting better and better. it's friendly and informative and there are some incredible tricks getting pulled. Some guys have been working hard for a couple of years, some just a couple of weeks. Come down, say hello and get practicin'!

  • my main worried is that it might get too popular and raise some suspicion from the council regarding the car parkĀ“s roof despite the security guard ok.

  • well.. in a way, shhhhhhhhhhhh....it's a secret.

but in another way - it's dead space at night that we are putting to good use. If we weren't doing that on a Tuesday night we'd probably be smashing stuff up and getting involved in gang culture, just like the kids.

structurally / weight loading wise a car park will never be troubled by a few guys on bikes doing tricks, even if my fat ass figures in the mix.

    1) let's keep keeping the security guard happy - a bag of bagels here, a couple of beers there
    2) let's keep Bristly happy by getting some batteries for his ghetto blaster.

  • Hopefully ill be coming this tuesday,if my bike is operational.
Do i just ride in and not acknowledge the guard?

  • ive never attended, i think i will make an appearance this tuesday night, my last night in London.

Do i just ride in and not acknowledge the guard?

You can do that, but I find it nice to do a quick smile and wave before disappearing off the roof acknowledging his presence.

  • Batteries for the g blaster... Someone bring a roller and a car alternator! Or we all chip in 1.50 and buy him a charger and a set of Ds (i take it it runs on D batteries)

  • Alternator will produce AC, and then you'll need a rectifier,
Should be reasonably easy to run it of a standard bicycle dynamo (DC).
    I think?

  • I've only been once before, but I didn't notice the security guard. Does he sit in a small office type thing at the entrance or does he wander around?

  • havent been in two weeks prior comitments and moving house now living north NO MORE ESSEX
    will be there tmr
    :)

  • Depending on the guard, they do tend to wander around. Some are more friendly than others, one is ace.

I'm not sure if I can make it this tues (may be out at a friends Birthday), but promise to be back with new batteries asap. If you're thinking of coming along for the first time do, honestly although there is a lot of talk of one handed wheelies etc, there are always people learning to trackstand/skid etc. Plus everyone is really helpful, all the cool kids started somewhere, so they've all been through it, and as far as I've seen they are all really eager to give you tips etc.

    See you all soon.

  • You know, since there'll be more people, I think I should bring my first aid kit to cover the basic, why hasn't we thought about that before? especially since the floor is made out of sandpaper.

  • *cough*HTFUcough

  • Have many people been injured in the past? I didn't see anybody hurt themselves last week, but then I'm not watching everybody!
