do you have space to put the modern clap, or you need to file down the other bit of braze-on?
either way with the moder one should be OK
-
• #3
probably need to get rid of the other one too right? Or weld the fucked one back on.
I think the question here is "is this turning into a costly nightmare or can i remedy it quickly?"
-
• #4
I've got some of those NJS jubillee clips here if you want one...
-
• #5
file down the old bit left, buy the moder clap, adjust
quick, cheap, no nightmare.you could do everything in the next 2 hours and have the bike ready for the free drink-bridges
I don't mind to give you a hand

@ Rik: where are you dude...? might have to do this..there'd be a free beer in it for yer..:P
RPM: NJS is never on list pf prioritites for me but if this will get me over to Rik's or even beyond I'd be most grateful. Just not sure at the momet whether you actually have got anything to help..

they're not really NJS..

As I type I'm at the end of Essex Rd, but I have all the bike gear in Hackney Central
I have an old clamp from my old Marin that could fit, we need to check.
I don't have a file -

Metal file £5.99
Jubilee clamp 99p
20 minutes work.
A £1.99 junior hack saw might make the removing of the other half of the braze on.
-
• #19
fucking hell brockely, new cross. you could not go more far away
-
• #20
Tynan description is good, you just need the hardware shop
ans with the metal file you do everything, no need for the hack saw, will take a bit longer
-
• #21
okay i guess I'll go for it this way - farewell, original seat clamp bolt and welds...
any further advice would be most gratefully received on how to do it well, I get all nervous.

photos coming just got back from hardware sto'
hi - Thurs night I hit a pothole and there was a cracking sound and my seat dropped. After a quick check cycled home standing up figuring the bolt that tightens the seat post into the seat tube had gone. On further inspection the left side of the seat tube braze-on (??) that the bolt goes through has basically snapped off.
Do I just go to edwardes and ask for a modern seat clamp and I'll be okay? I need to go ASAP obviously.
Sorry for lack of correct technical terms.
