haven't J&D Chapman started daubing rainbows and stuff onto Hitler originals? I think they started doing it to old Bosche paintings. I thought that was sacriledge or however you want to spell it. Hitler's are a better idea.
But I did think most of those Britpop artists generally leaned toward the cunty side of human nature. For some reason I rather rate Emin's outlook on things, even though I couldn't stand her for ages and hasn't done loads to progress her ideas. For some reason I always kind of liked Damien Hirst too.
On the other hand Noble and Webster are talentless-gobshite wannabe rock'n'rollers who lucked out on the Saatchi gravy train. They should rightfully have spent the 90s teaching GCSE art in unremarkable state schools.
IMHO.

I was unfortunate enough to be in a test screening for the chapmans new film for channel 4 or some other wank. The 'highlight' of the film is a woman giving birth to a fully grown man, with a close up cunt shot. It's crap.

ooooh get him, loaded topic etc. I never liked that. If someone did it at my college now(not that they ever would - nobody ever does anything at my college), I would think it was a pile of shit. Not because it's offensive, but because it's offensive in a really dull, obvious way.

yeah we arty students du Brit thought it was fairly limited at the time as well. Take Chuck Close techniques and render them achingly poignant slash mortally offensive, depending on your POV. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
yeah sorry OCD I was playing at being ignorant on that one, I guess I was trying to make asm's point in a more opaque manner. There will no doubt be other times when I am ignorant however. Apparently it was Goya etchings rater than Bosche, for example :O

I've been the proxy when buying Chapman brothers pieces and found them both good guys. I've also met: Sarah Lucas who is intense, Tracey Emin who is lovely and Gavin Turk who is disgustingly talented.
Most art to most people is dull and pretentious purely because the people who produce it say things like "I would think it was a pile of shit. Not because it's offensive, but because it's offensive in a really dull, obvious way."

Why would anyone produce something and say that about their product(ion)?
Think it was origionally at Apocalypse, both that and sensation were bloody good exhibitions in my opinion
