  • GA2G, I suppose you know that they are the T-Shirt designs that are on sale through SJS?

    Democratically voted on and everything.

  • "SJS Cycles - Fuck yeah" is a winner of a slogan..

  • Swearing is cathartic

  • Fair enough Mashton. Just my thoughts, regarding kids on this site, and attracting new, and bigger corporate sponsors. I'm stupid, I know. I'll shut up now.

  • Wow, swearing on the internet, who'd have fucking thought it? ;p

Don't you think that any 'corporate' sponsor (I'm pretty sure SJS don't think of themselves as 'corporate' in any way) might have lurked on the site for a while before signing up? Hence knowing that they were signing up too.

Really GA2G, if ever there was a time when someone needs to HTFU then it's right now.

  • The swearing in the banner looks fucking shit.

  • Think of the children!

    cue paedobear celebrity appearance

  • The forum headers look good; but I'm really against the swearing in some of them. I didn't know this was an adult-only site, nor did I realise we were anti-police. I've been locked up for no good reason deep inside Paddington Green police station, but I still feel that they do more good than bad......and they do help return the odd bike.

Against profanity for the sake of being kewl.

Adults only. It's in the rules and always has been:

I tolerate runts below 16 but only because I'd rather they were visible and known and protected by other forumengers than have them hidden and without people looking out for them. That's not to say the site is aimed at them, it's not... this place is aimed squarely at adults.

If I had to wash the site to make it appropriate for under-16s I'd have to add more swearing, hentai porn and all of the other stuff from 4chan start thinking about censoring the lot of you, deleting old posts, nuking whole threads, and lord knows what else.

Also weird, is the fucking this, fucking that, and fucking the other......right next to a sponsor's corporate image. I really don't know how this works in helping to attract, or retain more sponsors?

SJS Cycles are our sponsor, and they're selling the shirts. Quite happy about it too.

I guess that they should be, they're getting their brand on 3.5m page views per month to an audience of almost 130,000 people as well as the added traffic of those purchasing shirts from them, and the potential cross-over of those purchasing product from them to reduce the postage costs.

    All win.

  • I was obviously under the misimpression that this forum might seek more than one sponsor. Had I known that only one agreed sponsor at a time was the goal, I wouldn't have offered my opinion.

    andyp. :) You're funny.

Thanks VB for letting me know how the land lay, so to speak.

  • Well the SJS sponsorship is in a 3 month trial period, but even if that did fail and we had to pimp ourselves out to lots of sponsors than I'm afraid that we would still wish to retain our core values of acting like children.

  • @Velocio - isn't creative use of profanity another core value?

  • That was actually the phrase I was going for.

  • would still wish to retain our core values of acting like children.

This is in line with my opinion that a bicycle is a mode of transport to be used until you are old enough to drive a car.

  • Back to the nursery for you then?

  • Nah, Clive growled at me about hanging around in there.

  • I thought his daughters were above nursery age?

  • Oh good, the banner just changed to a penguin with a courier bag. Much more child friendly.

  • Nah, Clive growled at me about hanging around in there.

Wasn't there enough room for the two of you?

  • Also weird, is the fucking this, fucking that, and fucking the other......right next to a sponsor's corporate image. I really don't know how this works in helping to attract, or retain more sponsors?

    Yeah !!!

Fuck freedom of expression - what we need is censorship to protect 'corporate image'. More censorship, custodial sentences for the profane, bow down to the shareholders.

I would report the t-shirts to the police as well if I were you, I am sure they fall foul of some statutory instrument and might even be a 'hate crime'.

    :P

But old bill is fucking jokes no?

  • Fair enough and makes perfect sense as you always do David.

However, I would say that adults do tend to have jobs (except for the full on hipsters on the site, who obviously have trust funds). The f-words are very prominent, I'm starting a new job soon and yes I know I shouldn't really be on the forum at work but it would rather kill my forum activity if I couldn't go on it at all. I don't really want someone looking over my shoulder and thinking badly of me because the screen is peppered with f-words and anti-police mentality.

At work at the moment I have firefox so I've ad blocked the images, but I don't think I'll be able to do this at new work :(

It (to me at least) fairly saddening that someone could even think this way - the curbing of a culture to appease 'bigger corporate sponsors'.

    :S

  • And don't get me wrong - I'm not offended, I don't care - I just worry about what others think of me.

  • But old bill is fucking jokes no?

I wouldn't fucking wear that fucking t-shirt no fucking way !! :D Someone is definitely going to get nicked in that !!!

    :D :D
