  • To even out the 'hating' though.. these chaps kick ass !

    http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/highonbikes

Have bought from them, found the postage a bit expensive tho...

  • Do I really need to mention the Dave Hinde eBay store?

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Number1bikebits

This was covered in detail on the old C+ forum (Google Dave Hinde etc). I understand that they have lots of nice positive feedback, but as soon as someone leaves a negative one, they attack them almost personally.

    Steer clear!

  • Charliethebikemonger is very good. If you ever need something in a rush - large or small - it's worth having a look to see if he has the item in stock. Really quick delivery and friendly emails with sensible answers to questions asked. Highly recommended (and no relation.)

  • +1 on "number1bikebits"
Bought some wheels off them back in April - took 4 weeks to arrive despite almost daily phone calls and emails to them.
Wasn't just their fault - the couriers they use are slow as well.
However the vast majority of their customers seem happy - guess it depends what you're ordering.

  • This guy is sound:

You can tell he devotes quite a bit time to the bikes he sells

  • i brought wheels off them when they when they were called something else soon as the name dave hinde came up i realised i was screwed took 2 weeks for the wheels to turn up. ...however they are still going strong 1.5 years later.
I ordered something off them the other week and it turned up 2 days later which was not to bad.

+1 from me never bought anything pricey but always comes through double quick, usually with sweets, which is prob the real reason for my praise

  • This thread is awful, just awful, mob justice at it's best.

If someone has a bad week or fucks up somehow or the Royal mail fuck up their delivery, how long does it take for them to get off your internet 'arseholes' list ?

I think this thread is looking pretty good. There are some extreme cases. Getting a refund, no question, and then refusing to send back the item!?!? Selling cracked frames?!?!?! Ebay offers very, very little support for sellers OR buyers. The only time I gave neutral (I've never given bad) feedback, I was berated by email about what a horrible person I was. It was neutral and I explained that while I might buy from her again she took an extremely long time to complete the process (or something like that). It was a horrible experience which has made me not trust the whole feedback thing.

Me; Is the sprocket Splined or threaded

    Reply; Dear ica432,

    I don't know.

Me; I won't bid on it then

    Reply; Dear ica432,

Please don't there is huge interest over 150 watchers and its a simple task for any compentent cyclists mechanic to change it for either threaded or splined. Plus its packedup in future please ask earlier.

And as a seller, i had quite a few items which ended for 7p - can remember of a 3T quill stem which ended for 7p, and a track chainring which ended for 7p as well! :(

I think I got a stem off you for about 40p or something. ;-) Yeah, eBay is up and down, but if you're buying 9 speed Dura Ace STI levers, forget value - I got mine £30 cheaper than any of the 2nd hand listings NEW off a web shop.

I agree with Dogs and Roberto, tho - patience and willingness to comb thru the listings for mispells and mislists pays off.

On feedback: I think they have changed the rules now, but after receiving neg fb for leaving neg fb, I would always wait til the seller has left fb before leaving fb.

I love leaving neg fb. LOVE IT!

    From the bottom:

Q what is the make of the bike?
    A steel

    what a reply...

  • Ebay is still good, but it's much, much harder to find decent, cheap track stuff. A few years ago you could get track parts and complete bikes for a fraction what they cost now. I know that's because of the fixed-street explosion (TM), but it's still annoying! Means it's a good time to clear out my cupboard though...

I was the person who got a nice 3T stem from Rob for 7p and I've had some good deals recently too, just not on anything fixed/track/pista etc

Even better is the "Can you do better pics of the frame?" question. Given the 'craze' at the moment, they probably could have got a much better price had they not said "can't be bothered taking more pic's sorry as it's not worth spending time on"

    Lovely...

While I don't want to fall into the trap of criticising a seller because of one personal bad experience, but does anyone have any experience of Singletrack Bikes? Ordered a BB from them and heard nothing. E-mailed and heard nothing. E-mailed another address and gave them an ultimatum (send or refund - or at least contact me) and heard nothing. Now going through a dispute with them, and they haven't bothered responding yet.

Their feedback on the whole is very good - lots of satisfied customers, but it seems when you have a bad experience, you really have a bad experience.

  • Won a frame for £51 on Ebay - the seller reduced the price to £40 after I won because I was dilly-dallying for a week. What a legend!
I would have certainly refused the discount were it not for the fact that I hugely overbid (they attached better pics after my bid.) the frame was worth £25 IMO.
I was the bad ebayer in this case... forgot I bid, forgot I won, forgot if I paypalled or not, forgot my phone, needed prompting to collect - the whole shebang.

This seller's been discussed recently. More Brooks. It was all bells, lights and saddles when people were checking his ebay history. Their feedback is all good. Fishy?

  • "I agree with Dogs and Roberto, tho - patience and willingness to comb thru the listings for mispells and mislists pays off."

    was that an ironic misspelling?

i brought a new profile hub RRP £225 from italy for £80 it was in the wrong section and i was the only bidder. but a lot of new stuff goes for more than you can buy it for from an internet shop.

  • i think you can tell the calibre of the seller of the brooks by the fact he cut and pasted some high minded marketing spout as the main body of his description, and then misspelled beautiful so chronically i can only assume he is a thirteen year-old hoodrat. or karish kharash...

  • i'm so tempted to send an e-mail to the above guy with the brooks "your account is under survelance by ebay and local police for the supposed selling of stolen goods"

  • He or she is selling out of Hackney. Might be worth asking the BL market enforcement guys know about this seller, seeing as this is an extension of that hipsterville local demand for hot gear. They would have more clout with ebay/rozzers.

  • cant we just paste his address up every time someone loses a brooks - he's pretty prolific -we're bound to catch him out sometime

  • Hey all - i was wondering if any of you knows anything about these guys -

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/createbikes_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ.

The bikes look pretty, but they do not provide the make of any of the parts. They seem to be based in the London area. Has anyone had any experience with them? I'm assuming the bikes are not top-notch, but at the price they seem to be a decent option for a first fixie/single-gear...

  • Universally accepted to be complete rubbish. Also known as "Unipaks".

  • Cheap fragile components, chains snap quickly, have heard wheels are flimsy.... Save your dosh and build your own! :)

  • Right. Duly noted - will stay away. Thanks for the quick replies!

  • i'm new here, but some of these are ridiculous. the first guy 'Ruperteh' isn't even a seller, a buyer who expected NOS to be mint, so a meticulous pedant; sounds like he would be a great seller, but a shit buyer.

this whole thing is a little unsavoury.
