  • I think to divert, control and design a system which is pretty much self contained and self cleaning without the use of computers/ calculators/ etc... underground using bricks which has lasted well over a hundred years makes him one of the most amazing architects to have ever lived. The way in which it all just works in harmony throughout its 1600 miles is amazing. Also consider that he built it all in under 20 years. The system is still used by a population which is much greater than it was designed for with very little going wrong. Until you actually witness a sewer/ drain/ CSO in person you cannot appreciate it. Not only was it a great feat of civil engeneering he made sure it was aesthetically pleasing which shows the sign of a great architect as he knew not many people would see it but still had the pride to make it look beautiful. I also respect GT Hine for his designs of the Lunatic Asylums throughout the UK. I guess its just the fact that these things are still there with very little maintanance that makes me throw my vote there way.

  • i can't usually post stuff in here as most of my images either are in photolibrarys or are used by clients so i don't put much on my flickr page.

this is a work in progress as the big shadow on the right hand cube is going to be removed.

  • My last frame is also coffee related (trying to document an issue with a new steam wand).

  • i had a flat white in monmouth after taking my pic of the hayward. it lacks the epic flavour journey of a macchiato but was nevertheless a sublime drink.
