BMI isn't an accurate assessment if you're taller than average or have a larger than average muscle mass.
Weight lifters, rugby players, rowers (probably) are quite often 'obese' according to BMI.
This^
I'm a 'stocky' 5'7" and a play hooker for my local rugby team (yes hooker haha).
My BMI is shocking and near obease. This despite that fact that I only have a 32" waist and am in decent shape (distance runner/cyclist).
BMI is a shite stat.

Im in the same fake fat boat... I once spoke to a doc about this here in the UK cause she checked my BMI and said i was almost obese. She ended up writing me a letter saying that this was the law and that i was fat.
I laugh...

I've said it before, but healthy people in the obese category are few and far between, but dangerously unhealthy are prevalent.
Even in the overweight category, muscular athletic people, from what I've experienced (and not from statistics, though I suspect they back this up too) are less prevalent than fat people. So, as much as you can say -'it's useless as a stat to measure health;, it's still the fastest and easiest and one of the more comparable ones that are available to clinicians.
Until someone comes up with something better (or a better way of measuring fat %), BMI will stay.

and by better, I clearly mean cost-effective.
@ dogsballs- i'm guessing some racially insensitive remarks may have preceded the outburst (judging that the most clickthroughs come from an EDL video acc. related vids)

that particular kfc is halal and the person asked for bacon in there burger.

still get the feeling more was said- from the guy saying 'who are you to call me a bitch' or words to that effect.
and guessing these people went in to the halal kfc with the sole intention of doing that.
For that, frankly, they can fuck off- twats. If not they're idiots, and the guy overreacted. But realistically, that group of people ordering- with a vid camera and at the end 'lets go now'- yeah, they did it on purpose.

Until someone comes up with something better (or a better way of measuring fat %), BMI will stay.True, it works well as long as you have extra information. If you're checking the BMI of someone in front of you that looks like Arnie then it's obvious.

Does it help if, when I weigh myself, I shout "get to the choppa!" then?
