To keep off the squirrels I guess.

I'm guessing that metal bar is a switch, birds arent heavy enough to press it down so can eat no problem, but a squirrel is heavier so presses the switch when it's trying to get at the food and is spun off.

I don't often laugh out loud at fail vids, but the watermelon hits the spot.

http://www.twitvid.com/Q41DBThat must be painfull!! lalallalala, she must have done something to the melons , karma I guess

She looked fine. I reckon it's less painfull if it explodes. She would have a face full of blood if it really connected. Sort of like how it's more comfortable to ride on rough roads at 50mph rather than 30mph

do not get what you mean with the road analogy. The melon hit her square in the face.
The exploding shows that some of the force was dissapated in a similar way to a helmet smashing to absorb impact. The force applied to her face would still need to be the minimum of that required to break the melon, which is significant. -

The road analogy was on my mind as i watched the wages of fear again the other day where they transport two truckloads of Nitroglycerin accross Venezuela. The travel at 4mph the whole way except for a flat but rough road which they take at 60mph.
Sort of like trying to pull a tablecloth off a laid table.

Surely crumple zones in a car would be a better analogy?

Why not take a cruise, they're really relaxing

dificult to see, but that sea doesnt look that bad*, but the ship is nearly going donw...
we are nothing!!
if Mother Nature wanted to get rid of us, it will take her a split of a sec*I trully belive there are much more worse storms out there, no say that is not bad
I was on a ship like that when we were kids going from portsmouth to st malo in france, iyt was really scary and you could hear all sorts of noise from below deck, my mom and dad took us to the little side corridor with the fixed squab cushion things. after about 30 minutes it stopped but it was fucking terrfiying. We got away with it...the car and the caravan were alright, though on the deck below us a couple of lorries had broken free and crushed about 6 or 7 cars...
even on the channel it can get really, really rough. the duty free shop was literally all over the floor...there wasnt a thing left on the walls, all the space invaders and pinball machines were trashed...
proper mental, that was the first time as a kid I was really really scared, not that stupid crying wailing scared...that utter silence scared that means business...
I have only been as scared once, ...In thailand going to Samui, it was 5 in the after noon...last but one flight...quite clear and bright ...we took off and after 25 minutes the sky had gone purple and we were right in a storm...there was lightneing in the clouds around the plane, thunder, really bad rain, pitch black... a tropical storm...what is a 55 minute flight...took 5 hours...after 2 hours of being shaken all obver the place with turbulence, and the sky lighting around us, thunder, the woman said...we will now be landing in koh samui...and we almost dived .....wooooaaahhh...and the angle wasn't as it should be ...we were literally being held in our seat by the belts...the descent got louder and louder and shaking ...I can't do it justice without writing about a thousand more words...it was a fukcing nightmare...
It was literally screaming with noise and shaking itself to pieces....we almost crashed into the runway, my friends were waiting for us in a jeep...and heard us scrreaming out of the sky with 100 meters of cloud cover...the plane literally popping out of the clousds ....and then as soon as they saw us we went back up out of sight...we buzzed the runway as close as 50ft as he desperately pulled us out of the dive we were in. the whole fucking plane was shaking by about 2ft in every direction, the lockers emptied, the lockers fell apart, the masks fell out, some of the chairs popped out of the floor, the stress on the engines was so much it stalled one of them and then...as we climbed back into the clouds with one engine...we had to go back into the storm and fly back to bangkok with the lightening striking around us and the turbulence dropping us every 30 seconds...with one engine flicking rain at the window...
epic win...after 2 hours back again...he landed the plane and popped a tyre...all these people were going apeshit, and I just wanted to kiss the floor...I was so not angry...the relief ws like nothing...
I have flown light aircraft so I know just how close we were to crashing and just how good a job he did to keep us alive.
so epic fail ...epic win...
anyhow,,.,back to boats...;D..;/

Reminds me of when I was flying into JFK once. We were coming into land and were a hundred feet or so from the runway when the engines bucked and screamed and roared throwing us all back into our seats with considerable G's.
The plane pitched up and climbed at an amazing rate. We levelled. Circled. The captain came over the PA. His voice noticeably shaky. I remember his words verbatim.
"Sorry about that ladies and gents. Traffic control at JFK screwed up a little and we almost landed on another plane. Hold tight and we'll try a second time".
.. and another thing ... don't lean.
