Curious as to how come?
I can't reference this, but have heard it said that more emissions are emitted during manufacture than the vehicle will then produce over the average lifespan of said vehicle.
Hence replacing an older, less efficient car with a modern, more efficient one will reduce emissions at the point of operation, but increase them overall.

Entirely coincidentally I drive an old car.

Also consumption of large amounts of raw materials, especially aluminium, plastics, and in the case of electric or hybrid vehicles, rare metals

Well, they're not perfect but still far better than a combustion powered car as far as I can tell.
The Tesla factories are in themselves, self sufficient and net zero energy consumption. In regards to battery production, I've read the figure of 2.4 years of driving an average of 15k miles to have reached the same carbon output from battery production as running an equal sized petrol car (I think an audi was used as control). After that, you're saving.
They have the ability to recycle 100% of the batteries produced also, which is nice.Don't think anyone thinks Teslas are perfect but I reckon its a step in the right direction

That's included in the figure. Which would be lower if we had more renewables

All he's said is how much of a cunt Musk is though, which is true, other people, myself included, have pointed out there are worse cunts and he's doing some not cunty things as well. You've shoehorned in all the anti environmental stuff yourself.

I think power stations are a lot more efficient than little engines, even if they do both burn fossil fuels, thru also don't spew all the bad shit right into the path of other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

I'm defo some kind of horn, shoes will do in a pinch.
