The energy required to create and transport a dishwasher is trivial compared to the energy consumed by washing dishes over its typical lifespan.

I guess dishwashers are only really effective for families / houseshares that eat/wash dishes together? The amount of washing up I+my housemate make in a day wouldn't half fill the dishwasher, so we never use it because it seems* wasteful to run it half-empty.

She'd get on famously with my mum, she cooks in the garage, she's never used the cooker in the kitchen...

Tho' it's more of a warehouse than a garage, when the family get together we can fit about twenty of us around the table... Crazy European nonsense... If it's raining we can open the garage door and bring the barbecue inside as well...
