The intern tweeted on her bosses twitter.. I'm guessing the word rape might have offended some of his followers...

So not only did a unpaid work experience bod foolishly abuse the bosses twitter she also said the word rape..

It's not particularly shocking because firstly it was clearly not his doing (well, other than leaving his account signed in - stupid) and secondly that term whether people like it or not has likely been bandied around since the beginning of Twitter much the same as "FRape".

I wasn't saying that it's okay if other people make light of rape (obviously?!), but it is more significant when it's from a politician (I know it wasn't actually him but appeared on his account) than if it was just any old idiot.

For comparison, I'm sure there are loads of idiots spouting racist shite on Twitter - this is of course terrible - but it is less significant than if George Osborne (or Diane Abbott for that matter) started spouting racist shite on Twitter, because politicians are in a position of power and responsibility.

It just seemed obvious to me what was wrong with it so I explained - I also didn't criticise him or say it was shocking anyway. You just asked what was wrong so I said!

It was stupid of Watson. It was stupid of #Savetheintern. It was stupider still of his detractors getting in a tizzy about it. The Sun and The Times for example, for obvious reasons, fucking leapt on him and tried to glean information about a young, naive girl who, for a brief moment, forgot she was in a position of relative trust and shouldn't fuck around with her employers Twitter account.

It's proper storm in a teacup stuff, and it absolutely deserved a place here.
