After polo last night, I was thinking about angled corners. If we could make triangular pieces that fit in the corners we could just use them when we play and they're not permanent fixtures. Kinda like the cones...
Not as effective as rounded corners in keeping the ball moving but a lot better than plain corners.Pique, yes, I do that a lot actually.

"In Paris They" ... did something very similar for the tourney. It made a massive difference. Very simple but effective.
-
• #5259
mike, good idea. Maybe we can make rounded corners that are mounted on frames that we can just pick up and put behind the wall in the "piss free area"

Sounds wicked G.
I'll help if needed.
Is it polo time yet? Come on!
I need a job!
-
• #5261
yeah, something like this, some 2x2 and some thin ply. obviously it would be pushed right into the corner.
-
• #5262
You may need something to weigh them down. Guaranteed that people will be crashing into/riding against them.
-
• #5263
possibly, some ash blocks, or sandbags. I'm not planning on making them very big, so they shouldn't get in the way.
POLO

Reminds me of my younger days trying to build a quarter pipe...

Or lots and lots of blue tack!

• #5266
MMmm i am thinking of extra large versions of these.. sit in the corner and whenever a ball touches.. BLAM straight back out.. could take a bit of engineering, cost a lot of money, be really dangerous.. and possibly not the best idea for making it a fair game. but i am gonna roll with it
-
• #5267

gabes I have your stuff in my bag, and please remember to bring me the caliper -
• #5268

It's no longer known as that!
-
• #5271
Oh yeah. Um, there's one behind the wall where people used to piss, but now don't because that's gross. GROSS!
-
• #5272

So I'm gonna be there at 6:30.
Sipping on a cold beer.
Pondering over polo. -

CAn someone throw a drill and bits in their bag? i just need to lighten my mallet head a wee bit, so the big the drill bit the more beer I'll give you.
:)
I'm not sure about 'enhancing' the court with rounded corners...
It's not officially our court. They sometimes play football there and I reckon it might piss some people off.
I can see it getting ripped off...
I'm all for working to keep the courts clean and would love to get some lights up but adding the corners might be pushing it too far no?
We should get approval from the council.
