• @MAT cosmique?

  • Would like to, but Thursday is my late shift, I don't finish until nine. Good luck with it, take pics and give a report back, I hope the lights are functional. There were cones nearby ten days ago.

  • Woody said he's in if he can fix his bike.

  • fix that bike woody!

  • Jon's in (via whatsapp). That's six.

    Game on!

    We're meeting at the King's X court, yeah? 7pm.

  • I'm in, what is the King's Cross court like? And why not Mitch?

  • Also, where is the Kings X court?!

  • Looks pretty small. Anyone measured it?

    What are the benefits?

I'm not against it, just interested to know why we'd play there.

  • Just checking out a new court,

Not sure about the timeline but we'll be losing Mitch to apartments no? Might be a good time to start playing elsewhere and establish a presence.

  • It could be measured on Google maps of anyone has the time.

But until we find out if it's too small, let's plan on meeting there.

  • Looks about the same size as Downs.

  • But has floodlights.

[Edit] I forgot that downs has lights. Hopefully this court isn't on a pay to play system.

  • Nice one, Kev. Looks promising.

  • Northies don't forget this meeting and vote is this weekend

Please send your votes to Ben punkture if you can't make the meeting.

Please weigh in on the thread with your opinions... more input would be great.

  • It's impossible to tell the size of the courts based on two separate photos without a map scale for each.

  • Google Maps has set scales on the zoom so I reckon that's a pretty safe comparison. Looks the same zoom point.

  • There are no similar objects in both photos that would allow even an approximate guess at scale.

  • They were at the same zoom on gmaps yes.

    What's the verdict?

  • Thanks Kev for finding this court. Pints from the NE crew the next time you see them!

It's a good size, like Downs. We can book it and best of all it's FFRRRREEEE! There's lights till 10 but it didn't come on tonight. Booking slots are only for an hour but they do allow group booking if they're informed beforehand.

There bit of gravel on court near the entrance because of the garden centre adjacent but nothing a sweep can't clear. Surface is alright, although it looks new, there's quite some bobble on court. The lack of boards also means that the ball gets stuck right by the fence quite often. There are also goals with a chest height crossbar across it but thats a quick fix by putting some 6 inch planks across.

Spoke to a few local kids and they seem alright, they didn't make a fuss while we were playing although they wanted the court for footie. Best though to book the court beforehand if we wanna hold sessions there, saves dealing with kids at all.

  • Meeting about the Herne Hill court / vote for investment funding is this Sunday at LMNH.

  • The surface is worse than Mitch or Downs, but it will work if neither of those are available.

  • The surface is worse than Mitch or Downs

Thats quite disappointing. Strange considering it's brand new, has it just not been flattened down correctly?

Also is Mitchison really being redeveloped into residential units?

  • It really doesn't look brand new. Court was fun. Best bit is that it's surround by a very low sky line (for now) so we had the sun on us until sundown at 9ish.

For playability, it's not the best but it was a nice space. Thanks, Kev.

  • Oh, yeah, it's a great space. I like the location a lot. It's fine to play, and actually quite flat, but very rough: lots of divots, and the ball gets stuck in the little gutter on the fence line.
