Was definitely empty last Thursday when I went past at 7.45, only seems to be busy in the summer.

I can't play tomorrow but will try to ride past on my way home to see if it's empty again.

Went past at 9.30 and the lights were off.

Downs is still a no-go, they are trying to work out the pricing for everything again. Apparently having bike polo users at £10 an hour and their "regulars" at much more didn't go down too well.

(We originally got the cheap rate because of pressure from the council and a local minister.)

I don't get this--why would they charge others so much more, and so much as to render playing there in the evening totally impractical? I assumed that the rate polo was given was the rate for everyone, and that there had been a mistake all across the board. How odd.

Ditto, this came from Paula who said she's waiting on her manager to sort it out (who's always out/in meetings it seems), the manager is talking to Hackney supposedly?

She also mentioned that the problem stems from the difference in pricing between Hackney Downs and Haggerston(?) and that the £10 an hour price (and bike polo as a "use") can't be allowed/approved until it's sorted out?

I'm assuming Hackney knows that Southwark and Islington have there lights on a timer and it seems to work pretty well.

Just rolled down to the Walford Road court.

Unlocked and deserted so we are free to play there. Lights are fairly good (90% coverage) and the surface is decent, couple of gaps for the gates but they are only small.
Size wise it's similar to Newt but has fixed goals which will shorten the court a little. Just need some cones and we've got a temp NE home til Mitch is fixed.

I think we should give it a try, see how the locals take to us.
