Get as many polo players down there next time as possible, hordes of us, and plus ones just hanging around with bikes, so they're intimidated by numbers, but don't be aggressive because you won't win.
We had it as Peckham once. A few kids, they called more and more kids until there were about 15 of them. We left pronto, but they never came back the following week.
Don't back down. It's a call to arms.

i disagree, its definitely best just to play it cool as possible and just call the police and back off if they are atall threatening..

I'm really bad at guessing ages but I would be fairly confident in saying 16-21 and there could have been up to 10 of them.

Totally play it cool but there has to be more of us than them, and we should make them see that. If they get aggressive of course call the Police, but I think a massive crowd of us will speak volumes.
This sucks guys.

• #12057
don't worry about it mike, they push us all the time, someone snaps every now and then.
fuck kids, literally but not sexually.

Well, to start with there were 5 or 6 kids, maybe about 11 years old, and one older, mid teens.
They were the ones the aggro started with, and who called the police/we called the police about.
Then after the police arrived, about 8 youths arrived, mid teens to late teens. I'm not sure if they were connected to the younger kids, but Adam said they said they weren't, they just asked if we could play half court, and in the end we did.

I think we should arm ourselves or at least start doing self defense training with our mallets.
On a possibly more serious note, there was also that person that got attacked at 2am on de beauvoir rd the other day. That is basically right in between Downham and Mitch, isn't it.
-
• #12062
the person was attack right outisde the Northgate, in the road directly opposite.

• #12063
...and you guys like north london?

south is any better?
-
• #12066
seriously, this situation sucks. any provocation of the locals should be avoided. i can sympathise with mike that its fucking annoying and its a shame the kids did the whole big brother thing. who are their brother's going to believe?
gutted the po-po did nothing. that's worth a complaint.
and yeah, we should in no way lock our selves into any court. -

It was at the other end, where De Beauvoir Road meets Northchurch rd. There have been a lot of attacks there so avoid if you can

Trust me, loads better...

IME Less random acts of violence down here, da yoot fight amongst themselves most of the time... That's the clear difference for me between north and south London, in north London you're much more likely to get a bottle over the head from some random twat kid... Kids down here are way cooler than that...
Anyway, probably the wrong place for this discussion...

this sounds gash.
i agree that provoking locals is a bad idea for court access, future issues etc. Nothing you can really do though i guess.
i do agree to an extend with Jonni. once you back down you set a presedent and they'll keep coming back. calling a few people isn't the end of the world. -
• #12072
there has only been one incident at souths, but i'm not starting a north vs south debate. This is fucking rubbish news guys sorry. I dont think you should go with jonis advice and go mobhanded though. If poss find the 'leader' and explain to them ... whether that is a parent or big kid.

To be fair to them they were pretty good, there was nothing they could have done, it was the kids word against ours, it would have only ended up with a load of pointless arrests, and we all know who has more to lose from that.
And at the end they didn't want to leave us alone, they were worried we would get jumped by the kids, so we agreed to leave.
We can't antagonize them. If they're serious about "hammers, bats, and knives" there's a threat beyond just playing. Riding around there also becomes a problem. I cut through there when I ride up to the Orwell. I don't want to have to worry about being jumped by a gang of pissed off kids.
